Ahhh kids
The other weekend when I was in Whyalla with Cindy & Charli, Cindy reminded me of a recipe I used to make when she was a child, saying she could remember the chicken dish with the chips (crisps) on top.
I had forgotten about the dish and when she said that I thought, yes I remember that dish, it was very nice.
So I went out and bought the ingredients and thought I would see if Cindy, Dave & Charli wanted to stay for tea on Tuesday night when they came to pick Charli up. During the day on Monday, Cindy happened to mention that after being in Melbourne for 5 days she was glad to be spending some time at home monday night to get things sorted out. When I heard that I thought that perhaps this Tuesday night would not be a good night for them to stay for tea. As they were leaving on Tuesday evening I mentioned what I had planned to do and that I had changed my mind because they obviously wanted to spend some time at home. Cindy said to me, "I didn't say I had pleasant memories of that dish Mum, I didn't like it." So there you go, a good example of how 2 people interpret the same conversation. It just makes you wonder how often in your everyday life you interpret something differently from the way it was intended.
I have not set foot outside the house today. I have spent quite a bit of time on the internet. Then I did some work on my Assignment for TAFE. I got a pass for the test I did last week. There is only a pass or fail for these tests.
Here is the 2nd and 3rd page of my Book Of Me. It is about things around home that make us happy or we are grateful for.
I am going to go and start a new layout now.
Leave me a comment if you have time
Till next time

Just a quick post today. It is getting late and I am pretty tired after a day with Charli.
Just thought I would post a page from my Book Of Me now that I have all those photo's burning a hole on my hard drive.
This is the first page of the album and the photo was taken in January 2010. I made the flower by simply cutting circles of different coloured paper and distressing the edges. The title chipboard has been painted with acrylic paint and then given a coat of Dimensional Magic to give it a nice high gloss. The papers are Kaisercraft.
What is it about photos of me that always make me think "God do I look like that". Anyway they say a picture does not lie. (Don't know that that is still true in this age of Photoshop)
Would love to hear your comments
Till next time

What a beautiful day today. Someone must have heard my grizzling about the weather last week and decided to be kind to all of us here in Adelaide.
I finally finished my "Book Of Me" layout from the class I did with Natalie May last Monday. I don't know why it took me so long to get it finished. I had to make the pockets and the tags from scratch because I did not have any the right size. I cut the heading out using my Cricut and the Cuttin Up cartridge. I enjoyed doing this page. The 6 tags each have a list of 6 things about now. i.e. Six things that make me happy, six things I'm currently into, six things on my to do list etc.
I have not written them up yet but I plan on printing them on transparency and sticking that to the tags.
I also photographed all of the pages I have done so far for my Book Of Me today. I started it in January last year and I have 2 double layouts and one single to go to complete the album. I will post them here over the next couple of weeks.
Ray bought me a tripod for my camera for Christmas and I must say it makes photographing layouts sooo much easier, just set it up once and shoot away.
Would love to hear from you, so leave me a comment if you have time
Till next time

There is a great new site called Once Upon a Sketch that I came across in my travels around the internet. The main aim of this sketch challenge site is to get us all journalling. I must say that my layouts could certainly use a bit more of it, so this will definitely be a good thing for me.
They are giving away a great prize within the next couple of days, so why not go over and have a look.
You will find them here
Cheers for now

Yesterday afternoon I went to the Kaisercraft shop on Unley Road, it is the first time I had been there. Pat told me about it when I was in Wallaroo last Wednesday. Wow did I get some bargains. They have got a bin with assorted Christmas things in it, 20 items for $10, this includes clear stamps, rub ons, die-cuts, ribbon etc. Other bargains were rub-ons $1 per pack, Alphas $2 for a bag of 5 sets (all the same), ink pads for $0.50 and plenty more. Needless to say I came home with a large bag full.
Last night we went to the Police Club in Carrington Street for dinner. They have booths there and we wanted to discuss the bookings for Cooly Rocks On with our friends who are going with us this year. You can hear what you are saying to each other and the food was very good. After we had finished we went to "Legends Rock n Roll Club". The music was by DJ Roy. The floor was in fantastic condition but we did not do much dancing. Just never got the "right" songs to dance to.
This afternoon I had my class at Camelot with one customer. I enjoy spending time with her and we created a page for her album.
After we had finished I joined Ray at The Highway Inn for "Kustom Kulture". This is a rockerbilly festival that happens once a year and goes for the whole weekend. They have Rockerbilly music, stalls, rods and bikes. The fashions are well worth a look. Caught up with a few people we know and have just got home from there.
Here is a photo of Ray dancing on stage with Traci from Jump n Jive at the Good Golly Miss Molly function held at the Deaf CanDo Hall on February 19

What is this weather we are having????
Ray and I went to Port Hughes yesterday for the day. Rob (Ray's brother) and his wife have got a block over there and they are spending a week there just getting a feel for the place to decide if they want to build over there or stay where they are.We thought we would go over for the day and have a bit of a look around.
Charli ended up spending the night with us on Tuesday night so we dropped her off at about 8 and headed off. The weather was terrible and we probably should have changed our plans but it was the only day we had available while Rob & Jacqui were over there.
We had a look around the whole area, Moonta, Wallaroo, Kadina. The weather made it very difficult to do much except drive around the towns. We had dinner at one of the hotels in Wallaroo with some friends of Rob and Jacqui's. (Hello Pam & Tils). We ran into some people from Port Lincoln that we had not seen for a long time. We left at 7:30 and drove home.
I am just about to head off to TAFE so will say bye for now.
Till next time
Cheers

Hello
I am back from Whyalla. It has been a busy couple of weeks what with Melbourne and Whyalla two weekends in a row, but I am home now and ready to get back into things.
I am going to a "Book Of Me" class with Natalie May tonight. I started this book (one class per month) at the beginning of last year and I have 3 more double pages to complete to finish the album. I must admit I was a bit dubious to start with but I have enjoyed it. I will take some photos and post them here soon.
I had a very relaxing and enjoyable weekend in Whyalla, caught up with all the family there and had Cindy & Charli with me. Didn't do much but enjoyed it. It's always good to see family that you have not seen for a while.
Mum gave me some refills for scrapbooking albums while I was there so I thought I would have a go at making an album using them, some very thick chipboard, patterned papers and my "Cinch" machine that I bought about a month ago and have not used yet.
Here is a photo of a layout I did about 6 months ago. The photo is of my mum, grandmother, great-grandmother, great aunty and aunty at the beach in Port Pirie. Mum is the one in the front with the long hair. She was about 10 then so this photo is 68 years old.
Tomorrow is of course Charli day so will be kept busy, and I have to do some revision for an assessment we have to do on Thursday (TAFE) so that will take care of my Tuesday.
Don't forget to leave me a comment or email me if you don't know how to post a comment.
Till next time
Cheers

Finished my layout about Ray and his vehicles.
I stamped the background and envelope with the Kaisercraft "Bubble-wrap" stamp in blue and clear inks.
I have distressed all the papers and then inked them with Chestnut Roan. Punched the strip down the left edge of the blue spot with a Martha Stewart border punch. Doodled around the edges of each piece of paper. Painted the Imaginarium chipboard with Pewter acrylic paint and then applied a thick layer of Dimensional Magic. The journalling about the vehicles and the amount of time Ray spends on them is in the envelope. All of the chipboard used on here is from the pack I won from Imaginarium Designs.

Just a quick post tonight.
I wanted to show you this photo I took in Melbourne. I love it. There were a series of these statues of various Victorian Premiers.
I am working on my layout tonight and I don't have to go to work tomorrow so I will get it finished soon, just waiting for the paint to dry on the chipboard at the moment.
Till next time

So much to tell you about.....
But firstly and most imortantly.. I picked the first tomato off of my tomato bush tonight. Yay, I am very pleased with myself. Ray, Charli & I will eat it tomorrow, I bet it will be delicious.
Have taken it pretty easy today. Done the washing and had brunch with Ray, Cindy, Dave and Charli at Zoot at Henley Square, then a walk along the jetty. Spent the afternoon finishing The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet Nest. Enjoyed all three in the series. Too bad there won't be any more.
On Friday morning I flew to Melbourne with Sharyn for a few days. Friday night we went to see the Mary Poppins musical. It was excellent.
Saturday we spent the day shopping on Bridge Road. They are replacing the tram line on Bridge Road at the moment so that made it hard to get there and to move around, plus it was very noisy but that did not deter us, we shopped until the shops closed.
I was lucky enough to buy a dress to wear to the Rock n Roll Ball. That is that job off my list.
On Sunday we went for quiet a long walk around the city and one of the parks on the outskirts of the city block and I took some photos for my course. I am going to load them onto my computer this evening and see if I got anything I can use. We also had a look around David Jones and Myer and in David Jones I found a long sleeve bolero to match the dress I had bought on Saturday, how lucky was that. When I have my shower tonight I will try the two on together and see if I like them.
I am half way through a layout about Ray and his "toys", but I have a pretty busy week this week as I am going to Whyalla to visit Mum for the weekend next Friday so don't know how much time I will get to finish it off. Cindy and Charli are coming too, I am looking forward to it.
Time to do the lunch dishes and get started on a few other things around here
So till next time
Cheers

I have had a very restful day today. We have had Charli but Ray took her to Beeboppers from 10:30 to 12: 15 and then she slept from 1:30 to 5:30 so there wasn't much looking after to do there.
One of our friends is having a birthday soon so I spent the afternoon making a birthday card for him. I made a copy of a card I did in a class with Heather Jacobs but used different papers. I am happy with the way it turned out. I will post a picture after he has got the card. While it is unlikely that he would be looking at my blog, I will err on the side of caution and post the pics after the event, anyway I haven't taken any photos yet.
Haven't got much to write about tonight so will go with this

Today Ray and I went to the All Clubs Picnic at Vigara Wineries at Angle Vale. It is organised by Legends Rock n Roll Club and has been happening for a few years now. I must admit that today is the first time we have been and I thoroughly enjoyed the time we were there. We got there about 11'ish and Rip It Up were playing. It was very pleasant sitting in the shade listening to the band and catching up with people we had not seen for a while. The second band to play was Twenty Flight Rock but their main singer was not there so they did not sound the same. We had to leave at 1pm because Ray had to go to work. Anyway the time we did have there was worth the effort. I think I will be going again next year.
Last night we went up into the Adelaide Hills to Grumpy's at Hahndorf. They make the best pizza and brew their own beer. Rob & Jacqui came with us and we had a pleasant meal and catch up.
This layout is about my fathers parents. I did it about 6 months ago. The mauve doily came from the Salvation Army shop and I did not have to change the colour for this layout.
Ah well, I can't put it off any longer, it is time to cleanup this scrap room.
Till next time

I got this layout finished this afternoon because Charli went to bed at 1:30 and is still asleep.
I have used the large butterfly and the letters from the pack I won from Imaginarium Designs. The letters I coloured with ink and then gave them a coat of Dimensional Magic and the butterfly I painted with acrylic paint and then gave it a light spray with Black Magic Glimmermist. The photo has another photo underneath and the pin with the ribbon and charm are intended for opening the folder to look at the second photo. I did spray the fabric doily with Iridescent Gold Glimmermist but it does not appear to have made any difference to it. The flower is sprayed with Starfish Glimmermist quite heavily for the richer colour.I bought a new Maya Road border stamp recently and wanted to use it so that is the black embossed scallop you can see above the fabric doily and under charli's name. I used a needle and thread to gather up the pink ribbon and to stitch the black ric rak onto it. The text is printed onto transparency and then stuck to the layout.

Good Morning
I know it has been a few days since my last post but here goes.
Thursday night I went to see a Fringe show with Cindy and her friend. The show was at the Cavan Club in North Tce and was called "An Evening of the Unexpected" with Anthony Laye. He is a "mind reader" and the show was very persuasive. Go and have a look at it if you are interested in that type of thing. Last night we went to the "Butterfly House" and saw a jazz band. Not being jazz fans we did not stay very long before we headed to Legends Rock and Roll Club. Had a very good time there. Did not have one dance but caught up with a lot of our friends and had an opportunity to talk.
At the beginning of the year I saw on someones blog (sorry cant remember who) to create a list of 101 things to do in 1001 days. I thought that would be a good idea so I started my list. Do you know how hard it is to think of 101 things you would like to do!! Try it. Anyway, I made a start and one of the things I wanted to do was grow a tomato plant in a pot. Bit weird you might think but in our house Ray does all the gardening and I never do any of it so I just wanted to have a go at growing something and I thought a tomato plant would be good because Ray likes having tomatoes on toast for a snack. When I was in Whyalla just after Christmas visiting my Mum, Ian, my brother gave me a tomato plant so that was the push I needed. This is my tomato plant now
Some of the other things on my list that I have done are: Create a blog, Get new taps in the bathroom,
Go to the Adelaide Zoo, start sewing again, keep a food diary for one month.
I am half way through a layout at the moment but I am babysitting from 11:30 to 5pm so will not get a chance to do any today. I am going to share a layout I did a few months ago of Charli talking to Ray on the phone. To make the black scrolls I stamped and embossed on a transparency. I was surprised it worked, I thought the transparency would buckle but it didn't.
That's about it for this post. Cindy & Charli will be here any minute and I have a few things to do before they get here
Till next time
Thanks for looking
Love to hear any comments you might like to leave

Last night Ray and I went to the Adelaide Rock n Roll Club. The band was "Rave On" and I really enjoyed them. They played a lot of songs you just don't hear from other bands. Ray and I had quite a few dances.
Today I have spent the day organising my photos for TAFE into appropriate folders and learning a bit more about Finder on my computer.
I have had to re-organise my scrap room to make room for the computer as it takes up a lot more space than my notebook. I think it will be a work in progress as I am sure I will change things around as I go.
Tonight I am going to do some scrapbooking. I plan on using some more of the great chipboard I won from Imaginarium Designs so will post that here when it is finished.
Till next time
