NYE 2006 Layout

Good Evening

It has been a fair while between posts.....I have been away celebrating my sisters 60th birthday and visiting my Mother.

Well it has finally happened, this is the last layout from the retreat I attended in April.
I will have to get busy now and make some new layouts to share with you, maybe even some more Art Journal pages

Another fairly "clean" layout using a colour that I very rarely use, Navy Blue.

The patterned paper is complimented by the clean white background, which is framed with navy cardstock. Navy cardstock seems to be very hard to come by. I had none in my stash and when I tried to buy some I could not get any. (I tried again today at Kaisercraft's 50% off sale but missed out again) I managed to scrounge this sheet from somewhere. I cut the middle out of it and used that to mat the photo, the journalling block and the triangle in the top left hand corner and create the strip with the torn edge that runs under the photo.

I double matted my photo with some velum which I tore along the top edge. The scallops on the music patterned paper at the bottom of the layout were drawn using the bottom of a Glimmermist bottle then cut with a pair of scissors.

"Houses" Art Journal Page

Good afternoon paper people

A bit of a change today. I am sharing an art journal page. I have not done any AJ pages for soooo long so thought it was time to get back into it.

I bought a new stamp, which turned out to be too small, but I used the image on the stamp to draw  houses on watercolour paper.

But let me start from the beginning.......

This page is from my Finnabair Art Journal and is 9" x 7"

I had previously started this page and did not like it at all. The background was good but the houses were too small and too colourless.

To be honest I did this page so long ago that I can not remember what I have used on the background. I can see Gesso, Texture Paste through a stencil and some stamping but I cannot remember what I used to colour it.

The houses are a stamp by Nathalie Kalbach (N*Studio). You get the Foam solid background stamp and then a seperate stamp with the design lines on it. Great stamp but just not right for this page.

So I gave it a make over using the design from the new stamp I bought. Using some grey paper I collaged small pieces to the bottom of the page and then stamped on top of it with black ink to create a "footpath" look.

I drew the houses on some watercolour paper and coloured them with my Jane Davenport watercolours. I then attached them over the top of the other houses I had on the page using Gel Medium. I had to be very careful doing this because the gel medium smudged the water colours. I used my Big Brush markers to shade around the houses then I detailed them using black acrylic paint in my fineliner bottle. I cut the grass out of some green paper and stuck it on. The detailing was done with a white gel pen, a lime green alcohol marker and a black sharpie.

It was looking pretty dark so I gave it a white border using white acrylic paint in another fineliner  bottle. I also gave all of the windows a coat of Glossy accents.

Much happier with it now and I have called it finished.....although I am tossing up weather to put some tiny flowers amongst the grass.

"On This Day" Layout

Good Afternoon

Today I am sharing another layout from the retreat, this is the second to last one.

I have used Kaisercraft's "Always & Forever" paper collection.

Have I mentioned previously that I have a "thing" for banners. Here are a few more.

There is not a lot to say about this simple layout. There is no mixed media on the page at all.

All of the patterned papers have had the edges inked before they were layered onto each other to form a base for the photo. I filed around the edge of the photo to make it stand out more an the black mat.

I love this paper range, the colours and the neutrals are beautiful.

"Christmas Day 2011" Layout

Good morning

Today I am sharing a layout I did while we were in Queensland recently.

I did not take many supplies with me so it is once again a minimalistic layout

These photos were taken at my nephews place on Christmas Day 2011 showing my Grand Daughter and Husband playing with my nephew's pet snake "Fluffy".

I have used American Crafts paper range called Play. All of the patterned paper is matted on red cardstock for a bit of a Christmas touch. Not really your typical Christmas layout.

I have splattered some Glimmermist in red and black on the background. The middle banner behind the photo is Velum with gold stars printed on it. I have finished the layout off with some doodling.
