Shaker Birthday Card

Good morning everyone.

Thanks for coming to my blog today, love having you here.

Today I am sharing the birthday card I made for my grand-daughter who turned 11 last week.

I have created a video, you can see it here

To create the card base I cut a piece of Best Creations Basic Glitter paper in pink to 8" x 6" and scored it at 4" on the longest edge, to make a 6" x 4" card

I used Die-Namics High Rise Numbers die to cut the 11 from a piece of white cardstock that measured 2" x 2.5".

I covered the back of the white cardstock with a piece of acetate and then used foam tape to completely surround each number.

The Aussie Stamps & Crafts Superfine glitter in Pastel Apricot (I have had this for about 15 years) was then added to the numbers.
A piece of white cardstock was then attached to the back of the panel to contain the glitter. Now my shaker panel is ready to be attached to the card.

I wanted to have some twine behind the shaker panel so I cut a piece of the Glitter paper 4" x 1" and wrapped the twine around that, securing it at the back with some double sided tape.

I used foam tape to attach the shaker panel to the piece with the twine and then attached that to the card  about 2/3rds of the way down the card.

I used a die to cut the Happy Birthday greeting from white cardstock. This was then attached to a piece of the glitter card that was cut to 4" x 1.5" and matted on a piece of white cardstock that was 4" x 2". This panel was then attached to the card about a 1/2" from the bottom.

It is a very simple card and easy to put together, why not give it a try

Art Journal Page - Tiptoe

Good afternoon on this hot Tuesday afternoon.

Today I am sharing a Youtube clip of an art journal page I recently completed.

You can see the video here, I hope you will pop over and check it out.

This is the page

and here is a closeup

This page started life a long time ago. It was only a background and I did not like it is I painted over it with a couple of coats of Gesso but even so some of the colour seeped through so I decided to embrace the pink that was already there.

I used some pink, purple and green acrylic paint and my palette knife to add colour to the background. Some texture paste through a stencil was next and then some stamping.

I stamped the flowers using a very old stamp (from 2001) and Stayzon ink onto watercolour paper and then used a water brush and ink from an assortment of ink pads to colour and shade them. I stamped the front two petals of each flower twice so I could add more dimension to the flowers by layering them on the flowers with foam tape.

The stems were hand cut from scraps of paper I had left over from a previous project. I did add stamping to them with a Deep Red stamp called Water Droplet Background.

I decided that the background was too dark after I had attached the flowers so I gave it a coat of watered down Gesso to tone it down a bit.

I have used Faber Castell Big Brush markers and a Stabillo All pencil to shade the flowers, stems and leaves.

The black border and the white highlighting on the flowers and stems was applied with watered down acrylic paint in a fine-line applicator.

Why not pop over to my YouTube channel and check out the video, all of the process is shown there.
If you enjoy the video I would love it if you would subscribe to my channel.

Have a great day and I hope it is not as hot where you are as it is here.

Movie World Page 3 Layout

Good morning,

Another page for Charli's 2018 album to share. You will be sick of seeing them before I get 2018 finished. This is another page about out trip to Movie World (the last one).

You can see the video for this page here.

As usual I am using the Kaisercraft "Party" paper range for this layout as I am using this paper pad for the whole album.

It is an 8" x 8" album.

Starting from the bottom and working my way up the paper sizes are:-

Black & White  -  7" x 5 3/4"
Green  -  3" x 7 3/4"
Stripe  -  1" x 3 3/4"
Pink  -   5" x 5"
Ice-cream cone  -  2 1/2" x 7 1/4"
Green text  -  3 1/2" x 7"

The photo is matted on white cardstock with a 1/8" border all around

All of the patterned papers and photo mat have been inked with black ink.

The title is cut from the cut-apart sheet.

The hearts are cut using a nested stitched heart die and the little piece under the title is also a die cut.

The camera has been stamped using one of the clear stamps from the Kaisercraft "Happy Snaps" stamp set and then heat embossed with black embossing powder

A faux stitched border has been drawn around the page with a black pen.

Movie World Page 2 Layout

Hi there.

Today I am sharing a layout I did for Charli's 2018 album. I am dragging my feet with this. It should have been finished by now and I am not even half way through.

There is a process video for this page. You can see it here.

This page is very simple, because I had a lot of photos I wanted to include on this page I went for a grid layout.

All of the papers are from the Kaisercraft "Party" paper pad and the layout is 8" x 8"

I cut the first patterned paper to 7 3/4" x 7 3/4" and all of the smaller patterned paper pieces are 2 3/4" x 3 3/4".

All of the photos have been matted on white so they have a 1/16" border on all edges.

All of the papers and the photos have had their edges inked with black ink.

Don't forget to check out the video here.

Shine Art Journal Page

Good afternoon.

Today I am sharing an art journal page. You can see the process video here.

This is the page

The background for this page started life a long time ago and I did not like it at all so I gave it a couple of coats of white Gesso to cove all of the colour up.

I had used Texture Paste through a couple of different stencils on the background and that texture stayed with the page.

I used Colour Blast and Color Crush powders in greens and yellows to colour the background. To add a bit more depth to the colour I then added some more greens and yellows using Distress Inks and a blending tool. Using my Kaisercraft Numbers clear stamp and Black Stayzon Ink I stamped randomly to add more dimension. I also splattered white Gesso all over the background.

The tree is collaged using water-colour paper that I have coloured using Twinkling H2O's in reds, yellows, purple, pinks and gold. I have cut this into varying lengths to create the tree shape and attached it to the page using Gel Medium.

The star at the top of the tree was cut using Nellie's Multi Frame Star die and the baubles and base were also cut from the same gold cardstock.

All of the shading on the page was done using my Faber Castell Big Brush markers and the detailing was done with both black and white permanent pens.

To add some extra shine to the page I covered the star and the baubles with a coat of Glossy Accents

The border was drawn in using a Zig Dotta-Riffic pen

The title uses glitter chipboard letters from Bella

I did add lots of dots of Viva White Pearl Pen but when they dried they were clear instead of white. While I missed the white colour it did add some extra texture.

Hope you enjoyed reading about my page and maybe you would like to pop over to my YouTube channel and watch the video.
