"Family" Layout

Good evening everyone.

Tonight I would love to share another layout I did when I was on the SFS retreat at Rathmines.

I have trimmed my white background cardstock down to 11.5" wide by 12" high then attached a strip of the black with white spot patterned paper to each edge to make it back up to 12" x 12".

I then used a TCW stencil and a blue glimmer spray to create the "Chicken wire" look in 3 different areas of the page.

Using a circle stencil and some texture paste that I had coloured with yellow acrylic paint I made some marks in the same areas as the spray but not quite as much of it.

3 strips of washi was added to the clusters, then 2 pieces of chipboard that had been roughly painted with a very light coat of gesso were then added.

The photo was double mounted and the pennants were made from the same patterned paper as the photo mounts.

The chevrons are made using a photo corner die and cut from the same paper as the side strips.

The hand written journalling tells where the photo was taken and the date it was taken.

The titles was die cut from the same patterned papers and slightly off set to create a bit of extra depth

A close up.

Creative Inspiration Colours Challenge

Good morning

Today I would like to share a layout I created for the "Colours" challenge over at Creative Inspiration

There are an assortment of colour challenges over there but my challenge is to use BRIGHT colours on your layout.

I have splattered an assortment of sprays on the background to add a bit of colour, then I have used some bright papers (I cant remember what brand or range they are) and some velum to complete the layout.

You can see all the details and the other colour challenges here.

Tutorial for Off The Rails Scrapbooking

Good morning.

Today I want to share a tutorial I have created for Off The Rails Scrapbooking, that was inspired by a picture I saw on Pinterest.

I must admit it took a bit of doing because it entails cutting up a photo and I was worried that I might ruin it.

The layout is very simple and yet I just love how it turned out.

The photo was 7 1/2" tall x 7" wide

This is the layout.

I have used an embossed metallic paper, a glitter patterned paper and 2 sheets of black cardstock. For an embellishment I am re-puposing an old necklace.

I have cut my photo at 2" and 5" giving me 2 pieces at 2" wide and one (centre) piece 3" wide.

I could have cut it into even sized pieces but I didn't like where the cut fell in relation to Cindy's face.

Cut photo mats from black cardstock. 2 pieces at 2 1/4" x 7 3/4" and one at 3 1/4" by 7 3/4"

Attach the photos to the mats

Cut the silver embossed paper to 11 1/2" by 11 1/2" and attach it to a 12" by 12" piece of black cardstock.

Cut the patterned paper to 2 1/2" by 11 1/2" and attach to the layout 3" up from the bottom

Using your hot glue gun attach a piece of cardboard to the centre piece of your photo.

Attach your photo to the layout as show in the photo below, staggering the tops of the photo and slightly overlapping the bottom.

Attach the embellishment using the hot glue gun

Add your title and journalling and you are finished

I would love to see your take on this layout, so if you are brave enough to cut up a photo, and lets face it you can always get it re-printed, please share it with us here.

Retreat "Blind" Layout

Hello there

Tonight I want to share a layout I did at the retreat...yes still going....
This was actually a blind scrap layout. I had never done one of these before and found it very interesting. Bev gave us directions and told us were to place things and we had to follow the directions without seeing the finished layout. FUN

As part of our goodies bag we got some patterned papers so I used them for this project.

This is the layout we created. Some of us had portrait photos and some had landscape.

I am really pleased with this layout. The photo is of Ray & I at a Rock N Roll dance in Renmark. I can't remember what year it was though.

Creative Inspiration Sketch Challenge May

Good evening.

Tonight I want to share with you all the layout I did as part of the DT over at Creative Inspiration.

Bev has given us a great sketch to work with. There is a sketch for a layout and one for a card. I have chosen to do the layout.

This is the layout

and this is the sketch

                         29249463_10156346247766133_3453872174169

You can see I have stuck to the sketch pretty well.
I have used SEI papers for this layout.
The edges of all the patterned papers have bee distressed and inked.
The flower was made by gathering up some lace and attaching it to a purchased fabric flower.
The circle was cut on my Scan N Cut and there is a bit of stamping in the background.

It is a great sketch, why not pop over to Creative Inspiration and give it a go. There are prizes up for grabs.
