Wednesday night and Cindy & Dave have just picked Charli up. We have had her with us since 8am yesterday and it has been very enjoyable. She is a delight and although we had a couple of minor issues her stay with us has been great. I must admit though that I am pretty tired and am looking forward to a good nights sleep tonight. Charli woke at 5:30 this morning for a toilet visit but did not go back to sleep. She was back in our room at 6am saying she was hungry, so that was the start of the day for me.

My Mum rang me this morning to say her sister had died. My aunty had been sick for about 7 or so years and her passing was imminent but it is still sad that she has gone.  I have been busy making plans tonight to go to Port Lincoln for her funeral next Wednesday. It was a bit messy because I had already booked to fly to Whyalla on Friday 7th Oct and back on Monday 10th, but I have cancelled a flight and booked another and now it all seems to be sorted.  I will fly to Port Lincoln on Wednesday and drive back to Whyalla on Thursday with one of my sisters and then fly home on the following Monday.

I have not had time to do any scrapbooking over the last few days but I have got this photo of Charli having her bath last night to share.

Just too cute.

Take it easy
Till next time

We have had a busy weekend. Friday night we went to Ray's brothers for dinner, saturday afternoon I had my scrapbooking class at Camelot and Saturday night we went to a show at the Arkaba with the Highlights and Ray was the DJ. Sunday afternoon we went to the Glenelg Surf Lifesaving Club to see one of Ray's school friends sons play in a band called Riddem Section.

This morning I gave Daisy a bath and a haircut and took her for a walk and then this afternoon a friend came around and we did some scrapbooking but I think there was more talking than scrapping.

I have finished this layout for the challenge over at My Creative Sketches though.
I saw a tutorial on You Tube by Craftbrulee on how to make the large flower and I have to say it is my new favourite. I love the way the paper is curled up for the flower centre. It is made using the Tim Holtz Tattered Florals die. The leaves have been stamped with a script stamp and black ink. The tag that is behind the photo holds the journalling about the event.

It is one in a series of three sketches over a three month period. You can get all of the details here. There are great prizes to be had

I have got Charli for the next two days and overnight so I know I won't get much scrapping done.

Enjoy your week
Till next time

Just a quick post to show you the flowers I made yesterday with the new EK Success punch I bought.
These flowers are made using the Dahlia punch. They are quite high and sit off the page about half an inch. I think next time I will trim the base to about half before I wind them up so they are not quite as high.

and from the top

Ray is not well today, another throat infection so he is having a quiet day at home.

Cheers for now

I'm back with some photo's of the weekend

This first photo is of one of the many paddocks of Canola plants that we saw along the way. The yellow is so vivid.

This one is from the Friday night. It is taken in front of the huge decoration that everyone had to walk through to get to the dance floor and many of the tables and seats. Ray is 6' tall so you can see how big the decoration is.

This one is at Old Dadswell Town. It shows the lolly shop and some of the memorabilia they had there.

We had a great night with my sister and family on Monday night and the Lasagne turned out just fine.
Tuesday was spent with Charli and Tuesday night we went to the Adelaide Rock n Roll Club. The band was Rave On but I just didn't feel like being there.
I have spent most of the day scrappin today. I used a hot glue gun for the first time and I must say I am pretty pleased with it. I can see I will be using it more often.
I bought one of the EK Success Quilling punches recently and I tried it out today. Another thing I will be using again.
By the time I finished my layout it was too dark to take photos of it so that will have to wait for another day.

Till next time

We have been away for the weekend.

On Friday morning we headed off to Horsham in Victoria for their Rock n Roll festival.

The dance on friday night had the theme of Hairspray the Musical, it was great to see the trouble some people had gone to to dress for the theme. The band was Sweet Rock and they were great.

Saturday during the afternoon we went to Old Dadswell Town. This is a collection of huts that are decorated in different themes and are rented out as accomodation. They were all booked out except for one so we had a look in that and then the people who were staying in two of the other units let us have a look in them. They were very nicely done and it would be a great place for a group of people to book all the units and have a function in the large communal room. They also had a lot of memorabilia from the 30's 40's 50's and 60's in another building for everyone to look at. Devonshire afternoon tea finished the trip off nicely.

The dance on Saturday night was held in the same hall as Friday night and the two bands were Sweet Rock and The Cruisers. Non-stop music all night. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I did take some photos but have not downloaded them onto the computer as yet so will add them to this post later.

I think we will probably go again next year, depending on which bands they have.

Last night after we had unpacked, had tea etc. I checked the blogs I visit and was very excited to see I had been the first draw for a prize over at My Creative Sketches. That made me one very happy girl!!!!!

My sister and her husband and daughter are coming to stay with us tonight. Looking forward to catching up with them. I am going to make Lasagna for tea, I have not made it for quite some time so here's hoping I can remember how to.

Anyway, I should get on with things I s'pose. I have been sitting at this computer for an hour and a half now so had better get moving

Till next time

This is the layout I created using the sketch from My Creative Sketches.

Cindy was a flower-girl for my sister when she got married in 1978 and this photo was taken of her on that day.

I have used a cloth doily as the background and cut the paper doilies out using Lifestyle Lacy Circles die and Cheery Lynn Designs English Tea Party Doily Die. The tag behind the photo gives all the details of the event.

Love to hear any comments you might like to leave me

Aaahhh it has been a busy week.

My Mum came to stay with us on Tuesday and went home Friday so I spent all of the time she was here with her, we did a bit of shopping and a bit of catching up and the time just disappeared so the first thing I new of this week was Friday afternoon.

Friday night we went to Legends Rock n Roll Club. A pretty average night but we did at least catch up with some friends we had not seen for some time.

This afternoon I had my class at Camelot and another new lady has joined the group. We had a pleasant afternoon and I think everyone was happy with the layout they took home. I have posted some more of my layouts on Camelot's web page under classes. You can see them here.

Ray has got a sore throat and has had since last Monday so he did not feel like going out tonight as there was nothing different or exciting to go to so we decided to stay home. I hope he is feeling better soon because being sick is no fun.

Off to plan my next layout
Till next time

Just a quick post tonight to share the layout I created for the September 1st  Stuck Sketches challenge

The photos are of Cindy, Ray and our dog Cash. Ray had bought a load of sand to spread around the back yard and the pile of sand was too much for Cindy and Cash to resist. The year was approx. 1977.

Back soon

Another beautiful day in Adelaide. I am just waiting for my daughter to pick me up, we are going down to Grange for lunch.

Friday night we went to Legends Rock n Roll Club. The band was The Lincolns and the place was packed. Had a great night.

Saturday afternoon I had four students in my afternoon scrap class at Camelot. I had a good afternoon with the ladies.

Saturday night we had a BBQ with a friend of Ray's from school and his wife. Ray had not seen him for 30 odd years and they had plenty to catch up on. We had a very pleasant night and we will get together again in the not too distant future.

There was a girl I was friends with all the way through high school and I would love to catch up with her. I have tried face book and the sight that refers old school friends but I have not been able to find her anywhere. One of the problems is that I do not know here married name. If anyone knows Karen Thompson (that was her maiden name) who lived in Whyalla and went to Whyalla High School from 1965 - 1967 (inclusive) please let me know.

Sunday afternoon we went to the Port Dock Brewery Hotel in Port Adelaide. The band was once again, The Lincolns and we enjoyed them just as much as we did on Friday night, although they did play a faster mix of songs here.

Maybe after lunch I will fit some scrapbooking in.

Till next time
