Re-purposed old book

I made this photo album for my friend for her birthday. It was a novel I bought at the second hand shop. I took the story out of the book and used the cover to hold the album.

I added 2 signatures of 10 pages each using Kaisercraft Lollipop for the plain pink and Creative Imaginations Double Vision for the patterned paper.

All of the photo mats have a strip of decorative paper along the top or bottom.

The patterned paper that I used throughout the book for decoration was Kaisercraft Be-you-tiful and Confetti. The white card is Kaisercraft also.

I have used Golden Glass Bead Gel through TCW Circle Explosion Stencil on the background and then decorated with hand made flowers. The name was cut using Kaisercraft Alphabet Uppercase Dies then coated with Dimensional Magic. A strip of Washi tape down the edge covers the join between the binding and the cover.

A tag has been heat embossed with gold and a paper flower to decorate the corner pocket.

I stamped the Prima Stamp on a piece of ivory cardstock and a piece of patterned paper. I cut the dress out of the patterned paper and stuck it on top of the ivory fussy cut piece. A row of lace has been attached at the hemline. The background is Texture paste through TCW Mini Labyrinth stencil, with gold glitter sprinkled on it while it was still wet and allowed to dry. The wooden dress form is Kaisercraft painted white.

A photo mat waterfall with a magnet to keep it in place on the left page and a bottom pocket on the right.

Lace, ribbon and wooden shape decorate the bottom pocket on the left page and a belly band and stop at the bottom for the right.

A fixed photo mat to take a 7" x 5" photo on the left and a fold out booklet on the right that will hold 8 photos.

The left page has a side flap which holds 2 photo mats. I have glued 2 pages together to make the right hand page then cut it on the diagonal to make a pocket, which holds a mat for a 7" x 5" photo. I have then attached some patterned paper to make another pocket to hold a photo mat.

The back of the pocket on the left and a corner pocket on the right.

There are 2 diagonal pockets on the left hand page and on the right a brad holds 3 photo mats in place which swivel to allow the photos to be viewed.

Two fixed photo mats here one for a 7" x 5" photo and one for a 6" x 4" photo.
The flower and pennants had been made using die cuts and the chipboard feather is heat embossed with gold. The word "Laugh" was created the same as the letters on the front of the book.

The page on the right is stuck to the page behind it to create a pocket to hold a 7" x 5" photo mat.

A loose mat for a 7" x 5" photo is tucked into the band at the bottom of the left hand page and the same size mat is tucked into a top corner pocket on the right.

A top pocket decorated with a die cut doily and a flower made using the Tim Holts Tattered Florals for the left page and another diagonally cut pocket for the left after sticking 2 pages together

A second pocket added to the left hand page and another fold out booklet tied up with lace for the right.

Two fixed mats. The page on the right has been stuck to the page behind it to create a pocket for another large mat.

A belly band with a wooden frame to stop the photos falling through on the left and a chipboard dress-form covered with patterned paper decorates the side flap on the right page.

Another set of 3 swivelling photo mats on the left page. The right page has been joined to the next page to make a pocket then cut on the diagonal. I have added a corner pocket to hold another photo mat.

On the back of the diagonal pocket I have made a pocket which holds a folded pice of patterned paper that will hold 3 photos with a journalling block on the front. The right hand page has another waterfall which is held closed with a magnet.

A fixed large photo mat on the left and a top corner pocket on the right which is the inside of the back cover.

It is quite a thick album and is really too thick for the book cover I used. In hindsight I would use only one signature in future or maybe 2 signatures of 6 pages instead of 10. I have attached ribbon under the decorative paper on the front and back covers so the album can be tied shut.
This album is free standing so is easy to display.

Christmas Cards

It has certainly been a busy card making week for me. I have made about 8 Christmas cards but for got to take photos of most of them before I posted them off.

Here are photos of the ones I did remember to photograph. I used the Kaisercraft Christmas Wishes 6.5" paper pad to make them all.

Birthday Cards

I have made three birthday cards this week. Busy birthday month for me.

This one is for a male friend who is turning 60.
I have cut the 60 on my Cricut using the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge. I have stamped and embossed the bird then coloured with Tim Holtz Distress Inks. The background patterned paper was free on a magazine, can't remember which one.

This one is for my Daughter. I have used some vintage lace, burlap and old buttons. the paper for the hearts was made with white cardstock, zig glue slick and superfine glitter then punched with a Paper Shapers heart punch

and this one is for another friend. Very simple design. I used some leftover glitter paper from the card above for the butterflies and embossed the three panels across the card with an embossing folder that came with a magazine - once again not sure which magazine.
