Perfect Beauty Art Journal Page

A page I have just completed in my Art Journal. I have taken all of the pages out of my spiral bound journal to make it easier to work on them. The spiral binding was getting so clogged up that the pages would not turn.

I printed the flowers from the internet and then coloured them with my Derwent Intense Water colour pencils. The background started with a layer of Tim Holts printed tissue with a lightly scraped coat of Gesso here and there, then some Modelling paste through a stencil, background stamping, water colour paints and some Color Crush powders. All shading done with Faber-Castelle Big Brush Markers. Detailing on the flowers with a Uniball Micro Waterproof pen.

Art Journal - Be Who You Want To Be

Hi there

Sharing a page I created for my Art Journal

I cut squares and rectangles from scrap cardstock and stuck them to my page. The page was then covered with Gesso. I sprayed with red, orange and yellow delusion ink sprays for the background colour. Circles were created using a cardboard roll and Gesso then coloured using Gelatos. Some background stamping using Stayzon ink in black, white and silver. A few splatters with Glimmermist and Gesso.
The image is a stamp by Nathalie Kalbach for Stampendous. The paper for the dress is white cardstock coloured with some Semco Pearlescent watercolours which I stamped the image on then cut the clothing out. The title is stamped on using Stayzon Ink and a Pebbles alpha stamp set. All shading has been done with Faber-Castell PITT artist pens. I then sprayed it with Crystal Kote Matt fixative which I noticed made the ink run on the stamped title. Perhaps it hadn't dried well enough.

Hope you enjoy my page

Class with Heather Mc Mahon

On the weekend we went to Ballarat for A Rock n Roll festival they have there each year. Imagine my delight when I realised that Heather Mc Mahon was holding a workshop on the Saturday. I enrolled straight away and this is the layout we made.

We used water colours for the background, in particular, Colour Crush powders. They are similar to Brushos and Magicals. Loved it. I had to buy some because I know I will be using this technique again.

Cricut Cut Card

Hi there

Today I am sharing a card I have made using my Cricut. A friend gave me a beautiful finely cut card for my birthday that she had purchased and it gave me the idea for this card.

The card she gave me was a delicate design of a dessert trolley which was tied at the top in one spot.

I could not find any fine patterns in the Cricut Cartridges I own so I used this design just to try it out.

The Cricut also cut out the plain shape at the back of the card to correspond with the detailed cut.

There are lots you could do with this basic card.... you could put a different coloured card as the background, you could colour the flowers, you could cut the design in different colours and make a collage. All good food for thought there.

I put a couple of eyelets through the back of the card so the ribbon is held in place and does not slip around.

I am going to start looking around now for some other designs I could use for this style of card. I will also be checking out dies that might be able to be used like this.

February Stuck?! Sketches Layout

I have created this layout using the sketch at Stuck?! Sketches

This is the sketch

I have used Kaisercraft papers for this layout.
I used some acrylic paint to colour my Modelling Paste then scraped that through a stencil to create the leaf background.
I then created some splatters on the background using black, green and gold glimmermists.
The tree behind the photos was cut on my Cricut using the Serenade Cartridge.
The burlap was frayed to give a bit of extra dimension and the chipboard tree and birds were coloured using Distress Inks and foam mounted.

Hope you like it

Art Journal Page - The Owl

I started this page ages and ages ago in my large Ranger journal, and when I went back to it a couple of days ago I had lost the idea that I was originally working with so I have ad-libbed here but stuck with the Owl and the tree. I had created the tree and the owl in outline form previously so I had to add detail and finish the page off.

The background is tissue paper, acrylic paints, stamping, rub-ons and modelling paste/stencil.

I have cut pieces of assorted brown papers to form the tree and green patterned paper to create the leaves. The owl was cut out of one piece of patterned paper and then the detail was added using acrylic paint, Faber-Castell PITT pens, sharpie pen and a Sketch Plan pigment ink pen for the fine detail on the whole page.

The butterflies are Imaginarium Chipboard with a coat of Gesso then coloured with Distress Inks.
