Layout Mediterranean Holiday

It feels like so long since I have paid my blog any attention so I have decided to be a better blogger and post more often.

It has been very hectic around here with our holiday, a weekend away with my Mum and all my sisters then the backlog of things that get put aside when you have got more enjoyable things to do. But hopefully I have got some time now to get back to creating and sharing.

I got some photos from our holiday printed and I have made the front page for my album.

I have chosen to use the Kaisercraft Now Boarding collection for this album so will use that all the way through. I have also decided to restrict the album to one double page layout for each town/city we visited. I am going to have to incorporate a pocket or envelope on every page to get everything into this album so if you have any innovative ways of doing this I would be happy to hear about them.

This is the front page

I have used Kaisercraft Black cardstock as the base then Baggage Carousel for the next layer. I have distressed the edges, applied some texture paste, which I have coloured with acrylic paint through a chevron mask, and stamped randomly with a clear stamp and Stayz On ink. The strip of paper down the left hand side is from the Check In Collection - Delayed. I have just distressed and inked the edges on that. I have used some washi tape here and there. The tape was black and white but looked too stark so I applied some Cotton Candy Gelato over it and smudged it with my fingers. The tags and tag shadows were cut on my cricut as was the title. I have added eyelets and silk ribbon to them and the text on the tags was printed on self adhesive transparency. A few items from the collectables were used around the photo.

I have added some ribbon to the tag here for a bit of extra playfulness

A tag has been added to this page for some extra journalling

Once again some ribbon added to the tag

I have added Kindy Glitz to some of the circles on the banner and a gem to the Star Student embellishment.

A few gems along the bottom of the "Follow your Dreams" embellishment

Another new page

And another new page.

I have also started adding the photos so it is looking much better now.

Starting to get a bit excited now only 4 more sleeps till we leave on our holiday.....can't wait.

Kaisercraft Design Team Application

As part of my application for the Kaisercraft Design Team, see HERE for details, I am posting a layout, a mini album I have created to record year one of Charli's schooling and a card I made for my Mum for Mothers Day.

Firstly my layout.
The paper range I have used is Kaisercraft Kaleidoscope Collection
I have used a stencil with glimmermist on the background first then with texture paste for dimention. The hearts are chipboard coloured with water paint then topped off with Dimensional Magic.

A closeup of the background texture

The Mini Book

I have used two ranges of Kaisercraft paper on this, Hello Sunshine and Class Act. I think the bright colours will appeal to a six year old. Lots of stamping with Kaisercraft Clear Stamps, heat embossing and fussy cutting for the fun animals to decorate the pages. The orange photo mats on each page will hold her photos of school events as they happen throughout the year.

The Card

I have used the Kaisercraft Key to My Heart Collection for this card.

The card is 6" x 6" and has lots of layers and extra dimension using lace and foam tape.
I have use cutting dies, washi tape, an embossing folder and stamping on this card

I've got my fingers crossed.

I have just finished a double layout about our recent trip to Port Victoria. I had 14 photos that I wanted to include in the layout and instead of going for the option of printing them in a reduced size I decided to print them in a 7" x 5" size and place them in a booklet.

I have used a Doodle Bug card for the background that has felt dots. The patterned papers I have used are an old Basic Grey range, I am trying to use up some of the millions of pieces of paper I have collected.

The embellishments are created by stamping, I have stamped on blue velum with StayzOn Ink (fish, suitcases and tag), I have also stamped and embossed on white card. Some of the images created like this I have coloured with Twinkling H2O's (ie shells). The chipboard has been painted with acrylic paint and on the brackets I used UTEE to give it some shine. The texture has been created by keeping the heat close to the chipboard and making the paint bubble. I have put two eyelets at the top of the photos booklet, which has a 1/4" spine, to thread the twine through and then fastened with a brad to make the appearance of hanging pictures

Ray hurt his back the Monday before Easter so our plans of going to Whyalla and then on to Port Lincoln for my sister's 60th birthday celebrations did not eventuate. He is on the mend though so hopefully we can get up to Whyalla to visit Mum soon.

Saturday, April 5, 2014

Well here I am after a very long gap between posts.

I have not been doing much in the way of papercraft as I have started dressmaking again in preparation for my holiday in June.

i was looking at Scrapbooking Memories the other day and saw a layout I really liked by Rikki Graziani from WA so I set about scrap-lifting it. This is the result.

I used Gesso and a stencil to put the white on the navy blue background then sprayed randomly over the background with Yellow Daisy Glimmermist. The tickets are cut using Die-namicts Just the ticket die. A simple layout but I am happy with it.

It is Saturday night and I am home alone....Ray is DJ'ing for a birthday party tonight. I was invited but thought I would stay here and get a bit industrious as I would not have anyone to dance with at the party with him working all night.

Cindy started her cruise today. Hope she has a great time.

Have just spent a pleasant couple of hours at Camelot with my class.

Thought I would share this layout that I finished last night. Best to strike while the iron is hot.

I have used a stencil with Iridescent Texture Paste and acrylic paint, Turquoise Blue Glimmer Mist, a Kaisercraft stamp and black ink on the background Kaisercraft Basecoat patterned paper. I have fussy cut the photo, distressed the edge of the paper adding some tearing and a bit of lace behind the tears. The title was stamped and heat embossed with black embossing powder. The resin heart was coloured with Glimmer Glaze. I have been wanting to use some feathers on a layout for a while so took the opportunity to add a paper feather (Sprayed with Glimmer Mist) a metal feather and a real feather. The other pieces of patterned paper used are Lavender Haze by Kaisercraft.  I then used my Pearl Pen to add the pink pearls

I forgot to share these cards I made a couple of weeks ago

We were supposed to be in Port Victoria for the week this week but on Sunday night I felt a sore throat starting and when I woke up Monday morning I was not in a good place so we decided to postpone the holiday until I am feeling better.

I have not done much in the way of crafting for a while now. When I walk into my craft room and sit down to start something my mind goes blank and it all seems like too much trouble so I get up and walk out again.

Over the last couple of days I have managed to get started on a scrapbooking page that is completely different to anything I have done in scrapbooking before I have used texture paste and sprays on the background then cut out pieces of paper to make all of the items on the page and then cut Charli out of a photo to place on the page. I then attached all these items to the background with modpodge and shaded them all with my Faber Castell Pit Pens and a bit of kindy glitz to finish. I then typed my journalling (there is quite a bit of journalling, another first) cut it into strips, sprayed it and attached to the layout with Mod Podge.

This is what I finished up with

Lets hope the inclination to craft continues to stay with me.

Till next time

I have been semi-busy in my craft room. Camelot are having a market on Sunday 2nd Feb at their shop and anyone can have a stall there selling their hand-crafted goods of excess supplies so I thought it would be a good time to go through my stash and get rid of anything I know I will not use. You know what they say one girls trash is another girls treasure. I have got about half way through and got sick of trying to decide what I want to keep and what I don't so diverted to decorating the cover of a book. I badly need a new recipe book so decided to decorate a book cover for this use. I did not want it too bulky as it has to stand up to some pretty rough handling so this is what I came up with.

I coated the cover with Gesso to start, then Luminarte silks in guatemalan green, snap dragon and sunflower. When that was dry I used Kaisercraft Leaves stencil and Matisse Iridescent Medium to create some texture. Next I stamped randomly (if there is such a thing) over the whole area with Kaisercraft Alphabet, Numbers and Grid clear stamps and Stayzon Black Ink. With my Mont Marte Yellow Pastel Glider (similar to Gelato) I added some yellow highlights around the edge if the cover. I then cut the cupcakes out of patterned paper and stuck them on. I added some detail and highlights and shading using my Faber-Castell pitt pens. The "sprinkles" on the cupcakes was made by painting some chipboard white and then using a punch to make the tiny circles. Although it does not show very well in the photos the "sprinkles" have a coat of Kindy Glitz for a bit of sparkle. The chipboard letters for the title were painted white then sprayed with Yellow Daisy Glimmermist. I then used a couple of yellow pitt pens for a bit of shading on them. All of that was topped off with a coat of Mod Podge.

With the temperature being in the 40's for the rest of the week I think I will have plenty of time in my craft room to sort through the rest of my stash, I don't plan on venturing too far outside.
