Stuck?! Sketch Callenge 15th January 2017

Ahhh second post for the day....

This is my layout for the challenge over at Stuck?! Sketches for the 15th Jan 2017

The photos are a couple of years old and have been sitting on my desk waiting for some time so I figured now was the time. I fussy cut 2 of them so I could fit more photos on the pages.
The white paper in the background is a very old Die Cut with A View embossed cardstock. One has circles and the other has assorted "Family" script on it.
I have used Making Memories Liquid Acrylic through the Christmas tree stencil and some splatters of Artiste Spritzing Ink for a bit more interest on the background.
The patterned paper is by SEI called Glitzmas. The border punch is by Martha Stewart.
I used my Cricut and Cricut Craft Room to cut the title with the Mickey Mouse cartridge. Cut the shadow in black then the standard in the same red cardstock I used for the backing card. I then completely covered the red lettering with Dimensional Magic and fine silver glitter.
The little tags were just on my cricut using the Christmas Cheer cartridge then hung from the title using silver embroidery floss.

Charli's Birthday Card

Hi there

I am sharing a card I made yesterday for my grand daughter's birthday.

She is a pink and purple girl and we bought her Purple roller blades for a present so I made the card to match.

I have used a white card base, some pink card that I have embossed (Couture Creations Washed Away) for the background.
I then cut a scalloped heard frame (Do Craft Scalloped Hearts) from the same card stock to make a shaker panel with purple glitter flakes behind it.

The pennants (Spellbinders Nested Lacey Pennants) are cut from some paper I made using my Gelli Plate and Silks Acrylic Glaze.

A very simple card.

Bloom Art Journal Page

Here is the Art Journal Page I have been working on sporadically over the last couple of days.

It was inspired by you tube videos by Vicki Papaioannou and PaperArtsy JOFY 35 Stamp.

My background was created using Adirondack Acrylis paints Lemonade and gold, applied with a credit card over White Gesso. I then applied Matisse Iridescent Medium mixed with Duncan Liquid Pearls Acrylic Orange Sherbet through Kaisercraft Floral Lace stencil. Some stamping using Archival Inks Tiger Lily, Russet and Jet Black with BoBunny stamp set Geometric Patterns and KaiserCraft Stains. Some metallic Rub on pastas also used.

As I did not have the PaperArtsy JOFY 35 stamp and could not get my hands on it here in Adelaide I drew the flowers by hand. I then coloured them with Deco Arts Christmas Red Rouge Noel and Duncan Orange Poppy acrylic paints. The yellow dots were applied with a paint brush handle using Mont Marte Sliver Series acrylic Lemon Yellow. Leaves and stems were coloured with Duncan acrylics Christmas Green and Shamrock Green.

Title was stamped using Archival Jet Black ink and Pebbles ABC Stamps

All shading done with Faber-Castell Big Brush Markers. White detail using Signo White pen. black detail done with a Faber Castell PITT Artist pen.

A close-up showing some of the detail

I have to say I am fairly happy with this page. It was an exercise in keeping the background light as I find I always end up with a dark background and then it is hard to add anything on top.

Birthday Card

I am here to share a birthday card I made for a friends birthday last weekend.
I have used a white card base but have covered the whole of the front with patterned paper. I then cut a smaller piece of patterned paper to leave about a 1/4" of the previous patterned paper showing all around it. I then distressed the edges with a distress tool and ink allowing a tear here and there.

A fishtale banner made from the darker patterned paper holds the greeting which was printed from my computer.

The burlap flower and printed kraft leaves came from my local cheap shop and the small porcelain flowers are a left over from my ceramic days. A couple of pearls and a few hearts punched out of some plain pink cardstock finish the card off.

Hope you like it.

Layout - Real Love

Hi

I am here to share a layout I did for the challenge over at My Creative Sketches

and this is the sketch

I have used an n*Studio stencil with Glass Bead Gel and some Glimmermist splatters on the background.
The papers are from a Heidi Swapp "Favourite Things" paper pad I have had for sometime. The text I cut on my Cricut Expression using Jasmine and Opposites Attract Cartridges and Craft Room software. The tiny black hearts scattered in the background are the off cuts from the piece of black punched cardstock used in the layout. I have doodled around the edges of all the patterned paper and the base cardstock. The LOVE in the title is covered with Dimensional Magic.

This is one of my favourite photos even though it is very blurry. The mutual admiration between my daughter and my father is unmistakable. Unfortunately this was taken pre digital era and when you know that the photo is not that great it was too late to do anything about it.

Layout - December 28th 2010

Hi there

Tonight is New Years Day and Ray and I have had a very nice New Year celebration. Last night we went out to Tony and Liv's place and spent the night celebrating with about 60 other people and The Lincolns who played a couple of brackets for everyone to enjoy and dance to. Today we had a relaxing lunch with Cindy, Charli and Tony.

A couple of nights ago I finished this layout.

I was looking through and old album and I had used these photos on a layout I was not keen on that I had done several years ago in a class with one of the local teachers. I decided to discard the layout and redo the layout in something more to my taste and this is how it turned out.

It is hard to see but I have used Glass Bead Gel through a stencil  and some Glimmer Mist on the background white cardstock. The patterned paper is a very old paper pad I have pulled apart and not kept the cover so I don't even know what brand it is. The dark pink centre section is mounted on a piece of old cardboard box to give it some dimension. The banners are die cut and lots of border punching happening as well. A couple of pieces of Washi Tape finish it off.

Re-purposed old book

I made this photo album for my friend for her birthday. It was a novel I bought at the second hand shop. I took the story out of the book and used the cover to hold the album.

I added 2 signatures of 10 pages each using Kaisercraft Lollipop for the plain pink and Creative Imaginations Double Vision for the patterned paper.

All of the photo mats have a strip of decorative paper along the top or bottom.

The patterned paper that I used throughout the book for decoration was Kaisercraft Be-you-tiful and Confetti. The white card is Kaisercraft also.

I have used Golden Glass Bead Gel through TCW Circle Explosion Stencil on the background and then decorated with hand made flowers. The name was cut using Kaisercraft Alphabet Uppercase Dies then coated with Dimensional Magic. A strip of Washi tape down the edge covers the join between the binding and the cover.

A tag has been heat embossed with gold and a paper flower to decorate the corner pocket.

I stamped the Prima Stamp on a piece of ivory cardstock and a piece of patterned paper. I cut the dress out of the patterned paper and stuck it on top of the ivory fussy cut piece. A row of lace has been attached at the hemline. The background is Texture paste through TCW Mini Labyrinth stencil, with gold glitter sprinkled on it while it was still wet and allowed to dry. The wooden dress form is Kaisercraft painted white.

A photo mat waterfall with a magnet to keep it in place on the left page and a bottom pocket on the right.

Lace, ribbon and wooden shape decorate the bottom pocket on the left page and a belly band and stop at the bottom for the right.

A fixed photo mat to take a 7" x 5" photo on the left and a fold out booklet on the right that will hold 8 photos.

The left page has a side flap which holds 2 photo mats. I have glued 2 pages together to make the right hand page then cut it on the diagonal to make a pocket, which holds a mat for a 7" x 5" photo. I have then attached some patterned paper to make another pocket to hold a photo mat.

The back of the pocket on the left and a corner pocket on the right.

There are 2 diagonal pockets on the left hand page and on the right a brad holds 3 photo mats in place which swivel to allow the photos to be viewed.

Two fixed photo mats here one for a 7" x 5" photo and one for a 6" x 4" photo.
The flower and pennants had been made using die cuts and the chipboard feather is heat embossed with gold. The word "Laugh" was created the same as the letters on the front of the book.

The page on the right is stuck to the page behind it to create a pocket to hold a 7" x 5" photo mat.

A loose mat for a 7" x 5" photo is tucked into the band at the bottom of the left hand page and the same size mat is tucked into a top corner pocket on the right.

A top pocket decorated with a die cut doily and a flower made using the Tim Holts Tattered Florals for the left page and another diagonally cut pocket for the left after sticking 2 pages together

A second pocket added to the left hand page and another fold out booklet tied up with lace for the right.

Two fixed mats. The page on the right has been stuck to the page behind it to create a pocket for another large mat.

A belly band with a wooden frame to stop the photos falling through on the left and a chipboard dress-form covered with patterned paper decorates the side flap on the right page.

Another set of 3 swivelling photo mats on the left page. The right page has been joined to the next page to make a pocket then cut on the diagonal. I have added a corner pocket to hold another photo mat.

On the back of the diagonal pocket I have made a pocket which holds a folded pice of patterned paper that will hold 3 photos with a journalling block on the front. The right hand page has another waterfall which is held closed with a magnet.

A fixed large photo mat on the left and a top corner pocket on the right which is the inside of the back cover.

It is quite a thick album and is really too thick for the book cover I used. In hindsight I would use only one signature in future or maybe 2 signatures of 6 pages instead of 10. I have attached ribbon under the decorative paper on the front and back covers so the album can be tied shut.
This album is free standing so is easy to display.
