Three Christmas Cards using Uniquely Creative's Holly Jolly Christmas papers

 Good morning

In today's post I am sharing three cards I made using the Uniquely Creative papers I received in my November DT kit from Mystical Scrapbooks.

The November challenge at Mystical Scrapbooks is to create a set of three cards, one being a shaker and the second challenge is to create a Christmas card and include some fussy cutting if you wish. This set of three cards covers both of these challenges.

All of the patterned papers are from the Uniquely Creative Holly Jolly Christmas 6" paper pack.

There is a process video which you will find here.

This first card is a shaker

The card base is 4 3/4" square and made from white linen cardstock

The gold cardstock is 4 1/2" square and the patterned paper  is 4 1/4" square

The front of the shaker is cut using Lifestyles Crafts Nested Lace Circles die and is 3 1/2" in diameter

A circle of acetate that is 3" in diameter is attached to the back the scalloped circle

I cut 3 rings from chipboard and one from white cardstock the are 3" outer diametermeter and 2 1/2" inside diameter. These were attached on top of each other and then attached on top of the acetate at the back of the scalloped circle.

The filling of 28 Lilac Lane sequins (Velvet is the colour) were added to the shaker element and then a 3" circle of white cardstock was attached to the back to contain the sequins.

I used my Memory Box Snowflake Ornament Die to cut an ornament from gold cardstock. A piece of metallic string was attached to the shaker element where I wanted the ornament to be attached and the ornament was attached so it looked like it was hanging on the string.

The shaker element was then attached to the front of the cards close to the top.

The Merry Christmas greeting was cut from the Once Upon A Christmas Mini Cut-A-parts sheet, matted onto gold cardstock, mounted on a piece of chipboard and attached to the bottom area of the card front.

The next card has lots of layers and some embossing.

The card base for this is 6" x 4" cut from White linen cardstock
The layer sizes starting from the bottom are:
Gold 3 3/4" x 5 3/4"
Green patterned paper 3 1/2" x 5 1/2"
Gold 3 1/4" x 5 1/4"
Red spot 3" x 5"
White 2 3/4" x 4 1/2"

The edges of all of the papers were distressed using my Prima distressing tool.

Starting with the largest piece of gold cardstock all of the layers were attached to each other in descending order using double sided tape.

The small white piece was embossed with a Christmas Tree embossing folder. Sorry I don't know the brand, it could be Cuttlebug.

To embellish the embossed tree I added Uniquely Creative Clear glitter pen and some gold Stickles on the star at the top and down the trunk of the tree.

The greeting is from the Once Upon a Christmas Mini Cut-a-parts sheet. I matted it with gold cardstock, attached some chipboard to the back of it and then attached it to the card using glue

The last card for this post is a bridge card. This is the first bridge card I have ever made.

To create the card base I cut a piece of Tim Holtz Kraft Core cardstock in red to 4 1/4" x 8". Then I scored at 1 1/4" and 2 1/2" from each end on the 8" edge. These were then folded so the first score mark was a mountain fold and the next was a valley fold from each end.
I also cut a strip 5 1/2" x 1 3/4" from the same cardstock.

From white linen cardstock I cut one pieces 4" x 2 3/4" and four pieces 4" x 1". I ran these through my big shot with Kaisercraft's Diamond Tiles embossing folder. These were then attached to the inside of the card

The red 5 1/2" strip was then attached to the card base so that each the 1 3/4" edges lined up with the outer   edges of the card base.

I chose a Santa and a reindeer from the Creative Cuts pack and fussy cut the white edge off of them.
These were then attached to the side panels of the card, on top of the red strip.

The "Christmas" greeting also came from the Creative Cuts pack.
The merry was cut from a piece of patterned paper from my stash.

I hope you have enjoyed reading my post today. If I have not been explicit enough with my description you will find the process video here.

Cards that will hold a gift card

 Good morning

In today's post I am sharing two cards I have made for Mystical Scrapbook's November Cyber Crop.

The challenge is to create a card that will hold a gift card. I have made two.

You will find the Cyber Crop here.

You will find my video here

I have used Uniquely Creatives Holly Jolly Christmas paper range for both of these cards.

Let's start with this card.

I cut two pieces of white cardstock 5 3/4" x 6" and scored them at 4" on the 5 3/4" edge making a 6" x 4" card.

I used double sided tape along the two sides and the folded edge of the small section of the cardstock to attach the two pieces and create a pocket in the middle of the card.

To decorate the front of the card I cut gold cardstock to 3 3/4" x 5 3/4" and 3 1/4" x 5 1/4", the red check patterned paper to 3 1/2" x 5 1/2" and the fawn paper to 3" x 5". I inked the edges of these papers and layered them on top of each other then attached them to the card front.

The patterned paper for the inside of the card was cut to 3 3/4" x 5 3/4" and 1 1/2" x 5 3/4". I cut two of each size. The edges were inked and they were attached to the card. I have used the same patterned paper for all areas but you could used different papers in each area if you preferred.
I also cut a picture from the cut apart sheet in the paper pack, inked the edges, matted that on some of the gold cardstock and attached that to the bottom left section of the inside of the card.

I fussy cut three tags from the "Gifts" paper sheet. One had a gold star brad attached to it then it was attached to the front of the card with cardboard behind it. The other two were attached back to back to each other. I used my Crop-O-Dile to attach a gold eyelet then threaded some white crochet cotton through the eyelet. I will attach my gift card to this tag.

From the Creative Cuts pack I selected a lantern and a greeting. I fussy cut the white border from the lantern and attached that on top of the tag and backed the "Merry Christmas" greeting with cardboard and attached that below the lantern. I also added a star from the same pack.

Now for our second card.
This is a simple card and is very quick to make.

I used Tim Holtz Craft Core red cardstock for my base. I cut it 9" x 6" and scored at 2 1/2" and 6 1/2" on the 9" edge. I also cut a piece 3 1/4" x 3" to use as the front embellishment panel.

I ran double sided tape along the inside of the top and bottom of the 2 1/2" panel on the right hand edge of the card base. This was then folded into the centre of the card and burnished in place to create a pocket. This pocket will hold the tag that the gift card will be attached to.

To decorate the interior of the card I cut a piece of patterned paper 4 1/2" x 5 3/4" and another 2 1/4" x 5 3/4". I used the same paper for both areas but you could use two different papers if you preferred. These were attached using glue to allow me some wriggle time. I found it best to keep the card flat white the glue grabbed.

To decorate the front panel I cut a piece of patterned paper that had a Santa picture on it to 3" x 2 3/4", inked the edges, attached it to the red cardstock panel I had cut previously and then attached that to the front left panel of the card. Apply glue/tape to only the left hand half of this panel when you attach it to the card base.

The greeting is from the Christmas Mini Cut A Part sheet. I matted that on a piece of the red cardstock and attached it to the bottom of the front panel.

I created a tag to hold the gift card. I cut a piece of white cardstock 2 1/2" x 4 1/4" and cut two of the corners off to create the tag shape.

Next I cut a piece of patterned paper 2 1/4" x 4", cut the corners off, inked the edges and attached it to the white cardstock tag.

I used my Crop-O-Dile to add a gold eyelet. White crochet cotton was threaded through the eyelet. The tag now slips into the pocket on the right inside section of the card

So there they are my two cards for today. Very handy cards if you give Gift Cards for presents

Don't forget to check out the video, if you are like me it is much easier to follow a process if you can see it happening.

Decorating Card Album for KS4U

 Good morning.

Today I am going to share a video with you that shows how I decorated the mini album I created in this video.

To decorate the album I have used items I received in my November DT kit from Kraft Supplies 4U

They are having a 40% off sale until the 20th November so why not have a look at the beautiful embellishments they have available

Coupon code is***holiday40***
No other coupons will be active during sale.
You will find their store here and here

The process video is ready for you to watch here

I used a Hero Arts stamp set to create all of the embellishments. The white lace was also used on all of the interior pockets.

Because of the construction style of the album it was important to keep the interior bulk to a minimum so I added a pocket to one side of each opening and a couple of flat, stamped and coloured embellishments to the facing page.

The tags that go in the pocket between each page have a coloured, heat embossed stamped image attached back to back at the top for the tab.

I hope you have enjoyed looking at my little album today and that you will pop over to my YouTube channel and watch the video

Creating a mini album using printed card bases

 Good morning

Today I am sharing a mini album I made after watching a video by Heidi Swapp showing how she made a similar album using a pack of her printed card bases.

I thought I would try making one similar so I purchased a pack of 12 printed cards from K Mart. I ended up having to buy another pack so I had enough to create all of the tags and pockets I wanted to make. I did end up with 9 cards left over so I used 15 in total.

To make the base album you will need 8 cards and 2 pieces of chipboard the same size as the cards.

I have a video showing how to make the album. It is only five minutes long so you might like to check it out. You will find a link to Heidi's video in the description box of my video.

There are a couple of different versions of this album. I have made the one that has a pocket between each page. I have used my sewing machine to stitch each pocket up but you can use tape or glue if you don't sew.

Don't forget to check out the video so you can try this easy and quick way to create a mini album.

Snelling Beach Layout

 Hi there

Today I am sharing a layout I created as part of the Design Team over at Off the Rails Scrapbooking using the November Moodboard.

This is the Moodboard

You will find the challenge here

The photos on my layout are from our holiday to Kangaroo Island in March of 2012. As part of that holiday we visited Snelling Beach, which was a very pretty beach, beautiful white sand and this old shack and tractor right on the beach.

The video for this layout is here.

I gave the white cardstock a coat of clear Gesso to prepare it for the wet media I planned on using on the background.

The bottom half of the page was given a roughly textured coat of Golden Glass Bead Gel to simulate the sand on the beach. I sprayed this lightly with Docrafts Artiste Spritzing Ink in Gold

The top half was sprayed with Tattered Angels Chalkboard spray in Teal High Heel and Dylusions Ink Spray in Vibrant Turquoise. I sprayed some water on it as well and used a brush to move the colour around.

I used a cut file from Cut To You called Beach Life to cut the umbrella on my Scan N Cut.

All of the patterned papers and embellishments I used on this page were free papers that came with magazines I had purchased.

I backed the cut file, matted the photos and created the strip element using these patterned papers. The fussy cut shells were also from this paper.

I placed a piece of Cheese cloth behind the photo and umbrella, mounted all of my elements on cardboard and attached them to my page using my hot glue gun.

The chipboard letters of the title have been coloured using a Kaisercraft black ink cube and attached to the layout using Art Glitter glue

I have hand drawn the faux stitching on all of the elements and as a page border with a black fine pen.

I created some splatters in the blue section of the background by watering down some white acrylic paint and using a brush to splatter randomly, keeping the photo and umbrella covered so as not to get any splattering on them.

The date was written on the bottom right of the photo using a black sharpie.

This is a very simple layout but it has lots of texture and in brightly coloured, two of my favourite things.

I hope you have enjoyed looking at my layout today and I hope you will go over to my YouTube channel and watch the video

Four Christmas Cards

 Hi

Today I am sharing four Christmas cards.

I have a process video for these cards and you will find the video here

I created these cards for a friend to send to relatives overseas and each card has to have an area inside for two or three photos.

This first card is the only one that is in traditional Christmas colours.

It is a slimline card and measures 4" x 8.5", it just fits into a DL envelope.

To create the embellishment for the front of this card I covered a piece of white cardstock with assorted gold washi tapes then cut the tree shape out of that. I added some small punched circles that I covered with Dimensional Magic to give them some shine. The greeting is from Paper Rose's Crisp Christmas Sentiment Sheet. I have added gold foil to it.

The patterned paper I have used on this card is from Kaisercraft's Countdown range.

Inside the card I have added two bauble embellishments from my stash and a "Merry Christmas" die cut from gold mirror board. I think I might have got this die free with a magazine.

The second card is Pink, black & grey. It is 5.5" square.

The papers used for this card are from DCWV's Merry & Bright collection.

I have layered two of the patterned papers and white cardstock to create the front of the card.

I then used my Nellie's Multi Frame die set to cut three stars from four different patterned papers (12 stars in total), inked the edges and arranged them in a wreath shape on the front of the card.

The greeting was die cut from gold mirror board, attached to some white cardstock and matted on some patterned paper before being attached to the card front.

I cut two pieces of patterned paper 5.25" square and attached them to the inside of the card base.
Using white cardstock, I created a folding strip with four rectangular panels attached. Two of these panels will hold the photos, one is for the personal greeting and the other has a Christmas saying and three small fussy cut Christmas trees to embellish it. The two panels that will not hold photos are covered with patterned paper

Our next card is the second slimline card in this set. It is 4" x 8.25" and is a gatefold card

The papers used for this card are from SEI's Glitzmas range and silver mirror card.

The silver card matts all of the patterned papers on this card.

On the front of the gatefold I have placed three panels that will hold the photos on the inside of the card.

To decorate these panels I have used a die to cut two Christmas trees from the silver mirror board and I have heat embossed a stamped image with silver embossing powder to create the greeting.

To decorate the inside of the card I cut two more Christmas trees, one from silver and one from blue and attached them at the bottom of the centre panel.

The final card for this set is blue and silver also.
This one is a shaker card and it is 5.5" square

I used my Spellbinder square dies to create a frame from both silver and white cardstock. The white frame is slightly smaller than the silver one.

I layered a 4.5" square piece of acetate between the two frames and created a box with foam tape around the back of the frames

A 5.25" piece of patterned paper was attached to the front of the card, the sequins were placed on the card front and then the frame was attached capturing the sequins inside the frame.

I cut the snowflake embellishment from silver cardstock using my Uniquely Snowflake Texture die and attached it to the bottom front of the card.

The greeting is from my computer generated sheet of greetings. I trimmed it to size, matted it on some silver cardstock and attached it to the card front on top of the snowflake die cut

The photos on this card will be matted on white cardstock and attached to the left hand side of the card. I have put a 5.25" piece of patterned paper on this area. A strip of the same patterned paper is matted on some silver cardstock and added to the left hand edge of the right hand inside section of the card.

The greeting has been heat embossed with silver embossing powder, matted on some silver cardstock and attached in the top left hand area over lapping the patterned paper strip.

Wow another long post.

If you are still with me thank you for sticking with it.

Don't forget to check out the video here you will find more details including measurements.

Kraft Supplies 4 U Album Cover

 Good morning

In today's post I am sharing the cover of an album I created using the beautiful products that were in my November DT kit from KS4U. (Kraft Supplies 4 U)

I saw a tutorial on Scrap Queen's YouTube channel and used that to create this album.
Here is a link to her tutorial.

Here is a link to my video showing the creative process for this album cover.

KS4U have two stores and you will find them here and here

The beautiful soft tassel on the album spine is attached to the album using a gold chain and a black diamantie brad. I also added a gold charm to the chain.

The black flower braid, white cotton lace and pink ribbon are all attached to the cover using hot glue.

I stamped the pink, blue and white flowers twice each, using a Hero Arts stamp set, they were then fussy cut and shaped before being layered on top of each other. A gem was then placed in the centre of each flower.

These paper flowers were clustered with some netting flowers and skeletal mesh leaves and also attached with hot glue.

I stamped the butterfly twice and layered one on top of the other, slightly off setting them.

A bow from the same ribbon that is used for the album closure was added to the flower cluster.

Three glass bubbles that have gold Stickles applied to the back finish this cluster off.

I hope you will pop over and have a look at the video

I will shortly be posting a walk through video for this album so if you are not already a subscriber to my YouTube channel, please subscribe and click the notification bell so you don't miss out on seeing the inside of this beautiful album.

Thank you for spending some of your day here with me today

Mystical Scrapbooks November Challenge

 Hi friends

Today I am sharing the cards and tag I made for the November challenge over at Mystical Scrapbooks.

The theme for November is Cards & Gifts and my challenge is to create a set of three cards, one of which must be a shaker card. They can be for any occasion but I have chosen to make mine Christmas themed.

There is a video which you can see here

I have used Uniquely Creative's Holly Jolly Christmas 6" paper pad for all of these cards/tags.

Lets start with this card

I used a laminating pouch and some glitter to create the glitter acetate the is the front of this card. You can see how I did this in this video

The card base is a piece of white 240gsm cardstock that I cut to 8 1/8" x 6". This was scored at 2" and 4 1/16" along the 8 1/8" edge. I folded it in half at the 4 1/16" score mark and then the front of the card was folded back onto itself at the 2" score mark.

I cut a piece of the laminate so it was 3 3/4" x 6" and attached that to the front of the card so the right hand edges were level

I selected the red/green plaid patterned paper and a green checked paper to embellish this card.

The red/green plaid paper was cut to 1 3/4" x 5 3/4", 1 7/8" x 5 3/4", 1 1/2" x 5 3/4" and 7/8" x 5 3/4".
The green check was cut to 1 1/2" x 5 1/2"

These papers were then added to the card base with the 1 3/4" piece being on the front, the 1 7/8" pieces being on the inside front, the 1 1/2" piece on the left of the inside back and the 7/8" piece on the right hand inside back.

The tag was cut from the Holly Jolly Christmas - Gifts paper and the tree and greeting are from the Creative Cuts.

I fussy cut around the tree to remove the white border and used foam to attach it to the card.

Next card
This is my shaker card which must be included for the challenge.

The base for this card is Tim Holt Kraft-Core which I cut to 5 1/4" x 10 1/2", scored and folded at 5 1/4" to make a 5 1/4" square card.

I also cut a piece of white cardstock 5" square

I used Couture Creations Candy Cane die to cut two candy canes in the white panel.
I attached a piece of clear acetate to the back of this panel, then made two boxes around the candy canes with high tac foam tape. Foam tape was also added to the top and bottom edges of this panel so that when it was attached to the card base the edges would be supported.

The shaker sections were filled with Dress My Crafts's Frosted Sugar Powder. I put two little piles of this on my card front and then attached the white panel on top of them.

I used the same candy cane die to cut two candy canes from Gold mirror board and attached them to the front of the card to add the detail.

I used the same green paper that I used on the previous card. One piece was cut to 5" x 1 1/4" and attached to the top of the card and the other piece is 5" x 3/4" and is attached to the bottom of the card.

I die cut some stars from the gold mirror board using my Nellie's Multi Frame Star die and attached them to the bottom of the card.

A greeting was selected from the Creative Cuts and added to the top section of the card front.

Because the inside of the card is kraft in colour I added a piece of white cardstock that is 3" x 5" to the right hand edge of the inside back and a piece of the green check that is 2" x 5" to the inside left of the card back. A 1/4" x 5" piece of the gold mirror board covers the join. A circular "Merry Christmas" piece from the Creative Cuts finishes the inside of the card.

Card number three

This card has a transparent panel in the front.

I used the same cardstock for this card base as I used for the previous card.
I cut a piece 7 1/4" x 5 1/4" (score this at 2" on the 7 1/4" edge) and a piece 1 1/4" x 5 1/4".

The acetate for the front panel was cut to 3" x 5 1/4". This was attached to the front short panel (2" section) with glue and then the bottom panel was attached in the same way ensuring that the bottom edge of the front lined up with the bottom edge of the back.

I cut some antique gold cardstock to 1 1/4" x 5" and 1" x 5" and attached these to the outside of the card.
I chose a pale green cardstock from the paper pack and cut that to 1 1/2" x 4 3/4" and 3/4" x 4 3/4" and layered them on top of the gold.

There is a paper in the pack that has many small poinsettia on it, I fussy cut some of those and attached them randomly to the green panels with foam squares. A dab of gold Stickles to the centre of the poinsettia added a bit of bling to the card.

To embellish the clear panel I used Wow Mini Christmas Tree chipboard.
I heat embossed them with some Antique Gold embossing powder and added them to the clear panel using Art Glitter Glue which has dried completely invisibly. Perhaps next time I make this card I will heat emboss both sides of the Christmas trees.
A sequin from the 28 Lilac Lane Velvet sequin pack was added tot the top of each tree for a bit of colour and sparkle.

The gold of the Christmas trees, did not stand out very well against the kraft inside the card so I added a 5" square piece of white cardstock to the inside back of the card.
I had a few fussy cut poinsettia left so I added them to the bottom left of the white cardstock.

I chose a sheet of the paper (it was actually the front of the paper pack) that has all of the poinsettia on it and cut three strips, 1 3/4" x 5", 1" x 5" and 3/8" x 5". The two larger pieces were attached to the inside front of the card and the smallest piece was added to the inside back about 1/4" from the top.

The greeting was selected from the Creative Cuts pack and attached to the inside back. I think I should have attached it higher up so it did not show through the clear front panel but by the time I noticed it the glue had dried and I couldn't move it.

Bonus Tag

I cut a piece of white cardstock 3 1/4" x 4 1/2" and cut two corners to create the tag base.
This was basically made from the scraps of patterned paper I had laying on my desk. The gold piece is 2" x 4 3/8", the green piece is 5/8" x 4 3/8" and the red is 1 1/4" x 4 3/8"

I used my Crop-O-Dial to add a black eyelet to the top of the tag then threaded some "Merry Christmas" ribbon, from many years ago, through the eyelet.

I cut a piece of white cardstock 2 1/4" x 3 1/4" and a piece of patterned paper 2" x 3" and layered them together. I added foam to the back of this panel.

I attached a piece of gold mesh to the tag and then added the panel on top of that.

The sentiment is from the Uniquely Creative Mini Cut Apart sheet.

Here are links to all of the items I have used on these cards/tags.

Well that is a very long post, if you have made it to the bottom thanks for sticking with me

Pop over to Mystical Scrapbooks and check out their November challenges
