Shaker cards using dies

 Hi there

Today I am sharing three shaker cards I have made using dies.

There is a process video here

Here are the cards

They are very simple to make. The shaker panel is the whole front of the card.

I found the tricky bits to be regulating the amount of glue I used and judging the correct amount of "fill" to put in the shaker.

I have used craft foam to create my "well" for the card with the rose, and three layers of cardstock for the other two cards.

Check out the video and you will find easy to follow instructions for making your own shaker card. You can use any of your dies for this technique.

I would love to see your shaker cards so I hope you will share them with me

Thank you for spending part of your day here with me today

Vintage layout

 Good afternoon

Today I would like to share a layout I created using DCWV Scripts and Music Notes paper pad.

The photo was taken at my Grandmother's 60th birthday celebrations. She is in the middle with all of her children (including my mother) surrounding her.

It is a very economical way to create a layout. I have used one sheet of patterned paper and one sheet of white cardstock to create the base of the layout. I cut a 9 1/2" square from the centre of a piece of patterned paper and a 10" square from the centre of a piece of white cardstock and used them as my layers.

So the base is the 2" white cardstock frame, topped with the frame of patterned paper, next is the 10" square of white cardstock and then the 9 1/2" square of patterned paper.

All of the papers have been distressed and inked.

The photo is 6" x 4" and I have used an emery board to file around the edges to give it a distressed look. I then matted the photo on a piece of white cardstock that had been distressed and inked. This assembly was then added to the layout with craft foam behind it to give some added dimension.

The flowers were hand made using Couture Creations CO724161 flower die.

The chipboard corner and leaves were given a coat of white acrylic paint.

A half doily, white rose ribbon and some resin hearts completed the embellishments used on the page.

The title was cut from patterned paper using Kaisercraft's DD700 Alphabet Upper Case die

I hope you have enjoyed reading about my layout today.

I have not made a video for this layout so if you have any questions please leave them in the comments below and I will answer them for you.

Glimmermist Background Technique

 Hi there.

A very quick post today to share one of my favourite background techniques.

All you need to make this is a few sprays, I used Glimmermists, and some Gladwrap (plastic wrap).

There is a descriptive video for you here.

The longest part of this procedure is waiting for the sprays to dry.

Pop over to my YouTube channel and see how it is done. Very easy and such beautiful results.

Off The Rails Scrapbooking September 2020 Mood Board

 Good morning friends

Today I am sharing a set of three cards that I have created s part of my DT work for Off the Rails Scrapbooking.

This is their September 2020 Moodboard

And here are my cards

For all the details and measurements you will find the process video here.

I have used papers from two Anco paper pads I purchased from Kmart. One is called Mono Metallic and the other is Marble.

This first card uses a black card base.

The white marble paper on the background of this card is 5" square and the black & white stripe is 4 1/2" square.
The white cardstock strip is 5" x 1 1/2" and the black cardstock is 5" x 1 1/4", both have one of their long edges punched using a Martha Stewart Scalloped punch.

The greeting is from a 13@rts sticker sheet called his & hers remastered.

The black and red flowers are a ribbon that was popular 5 or so years ago. I have just cut one of the flowers off to stand alone. Some mesh, gauze and sequins finish the card off

For the second card I have used a white card base.

I have used some Modelling Paste through a Kaisercraft stencil.

The layers are:-
Black cardstock 5" square, white lined paper 4 3/4" square, the Modelling Paste piece is 4 1/2"                     square.
            The two strips are white lined paper 1 1/4" x 4 3/4" and black cardstock 1" x 4 3/4".

The lace is from Finnabair and the flower was made by stamping and heat embossing Heartfelt Creations Posy Patch flowers.

The greeting was printed from my computer and attached to the card using foam tape.

The last card is a shaker card.

I have used a white card base.

A piece of black cardstock is 5" square and is a backdrop for the shaker.

Using my Spellbinders S6-026 Squares die I made the frame, I used an offcut from a laminating pouch
as my clear piece. The filling in my shaker is a fine red glitter.

The silk flower is a Prima I think. I have also added a black lace bow. The greeting is also computer generated and foam mounted.

You could pop over to Off the Rails Scrapbooking and check out their mood board challenge. You can make a scrapbooking layout or cards if you want to play along.

 Good morning.

Today I am sharing my challenge for this months Cyber Crop over at Mystical Scrapbooks.

You will find the three challenges here

I hope you will have as much fun with my challenge as I did.

The challenge is to stamp an image and then colour it with either inks or paint.

I have stamped the butterflies on the background of my layout with StazOn ink and then used distress inks to colour them. A great way to create your own patterned paper

This video shows the complete process of creating this page including the colouring of the butterflies.

Some of the products I have used on this layout are:-

Linen Cardstock – Bridal White

Uniquely Creative Gums & Roses

Collection Pack

Bushland Beauty

Gumnut Garden

Dusty Attic String Frames Small Chipboard

Couture Creations Eucalyptus Branch Die

Black Soot Distress Ink

Layout for September 2020 Mystical Scrapbooks Challenge

 Hi there friends

Today I am sharing a layout I created for Louise's September challenge over at Mystical Scrapbooks

The details of the challenges are here.

The theme for September is Paints & Inks and Louise's challenge is to creates something vintage, soooo here is what I created.

You can see the video here.

All of the papers used for this layout are from the Uniquely Creative Gums & Roses range.

All of the edges have been distressed using my Prima distressing tool and Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

I have used paint through a stencil and stamping with StaZon Jet black ink for the background.

I have used two sheets of Rose Bud Borders for the background, one of them I fussy cut the flower edges out and attached them to the full sheet using foam tape/squares

I cut strips of paper from Floral Tags & Titles and Everyday moments in varying widths and lengths and distressed the edges. These were then attached in a line across the layouts so they were staggered and overlapping.

The photo, of two of my sisters and I, was matted on black cardstock and attached to the layout with a layer of foam under it.

The title was printed on some of the patterned paper, cut out using my Sizzix Hearts die and attached using foam.

Here are a couple of closeups.

I hope you have enjoyed reading about my layout today.

Check out the video and see how easily this page came together.

Why not pop over to Mystical Scrapbooks and enter the challenge, you could win a great prize.

"Trees Are..." Art Journal Page

 Good morning.

Today's post is an Art Journal page share.

There is a video and you will find it here

I have used Modelling Paste through a stencil as my base for the background and the colour is Colour Blast and Color Crush pigment powders. Some black stamping and white splatters complete the background.

The trees are cut from gloss cardstock that I have applied alcohol inks to. The stems are also gloss cardstock that I have stamped with Archival inks and a Kaisercraft stamp.

To add detail to the trees I have used white acrylic paint in a fineliner bottle and a Fudeball pen in black.

The Fudeball pen was also used to roughly outline the trees.

The quote was printed on white cardstock and attached to the page using liquid glue. Detail was added using my Fudeball pen once again.

A thin black border was added to the page using black acrylic paint in a fineliner bottle.

For full details, please check out the video here

 Good morning

Today I am sharing a DT layout for Mystical Scrapbooks. The theme for the month is paint & ink. This layout is for the challenge that requires you to use paint to alter the background of your layout.

The photo I have used on this layout was taken many years ago, so long ago in fact that I can't remember what year it was. It was taken at a tennis club Christmas dinner, I think in the early 80's.

You can check out the challenge here.

You can watch the video for this layout here.

I have used Uniquely Creative Gums & Roses papers for this layout.
I will link the papers below so you can find them if you would like to use them.

I added some Modelling Paste that I have coloured with some Smoky Grey acrylic paint and put through Kaisercraft's Grunge stencil

Here are my cutting measurements.
  1. (2 sheets of) Gumnut Garden - 10 1/4" x 8 1/2", 1" x 10"(punch along one of the long edges) from the second sheet fussy cut the two large flowers and leaves.
  2. Full Bloom - 9 3/4" x 8", 1" x 10 1/4" and 1" x 10" (use reverse side)
  3. Gum Nut Bouquet - 1" x 9 1/2"
  4. Fussy Cut Eucalyptus Posy - 1 1/2" x 11", 1 x 10 1/4" (punch along one of the long edges and use reverse side)
