Birthday Card

A card I made for a friend's birthday.

On this tri-fold card I have used a Tim Holtz die on the top edge that opens up and a Couture Creations embossing folder on both the top and bottom sections. The matted tag holds the card closed.

Charli's Album 2016

This post is very picture heavy.

Each year I make an album for my grand-daughter to showcase her year. This year I saw a box that a friend had and I decided to give it a try. I searched the internet and found the original creator of the box (Laura Denison Designs) and bought the pattern from her.

It is very simple to put together. I have adjusted the size as I wanted to be able to put 6" x 4" photos in it.

I asked Charli what colour she would like her book this year and she said pink. The colours are very bright and fun for an 8 year old. I used a Sugar & Spice Studio paper pad called Neon through out this project. Charli has seen it and is very please.

I used my long neglected Cricut Expression to cut her name and the year.
The 3 layers of the banner were also cut on the Cricut.

The bird is from the Tim Holtz Angry Bird stamp set. I also used the matching  dies to cut it out. I have used distress Inks to cloud the bird and the butterflies. The name and year are cut from black cardstock which I have covered in Dimensional Magic to give it a great gloss.

The multi coloured butterfly trim came from Camelot. I have used the Martha Stewart round the page Heart punch to punch both sides of a black piece of cardstock the layered a piece pof patterned paper through the middle.

This is what you see when you open the box
I will add a 7" x 5" photo to the photo mat on the inside of the lid during the year

The sides of the box fold down to the table to reveal all of the pockets with photo mats.
The large photo mat under all of the side pockets will also take a 7" x 5" photo

There are 6 pockets on each side. The one that have the punched edges down the side like this one lift up to reveal more places for photos or journalling. The lift ups have a magnet in them to hold them in place so the don't flap about when the pages are being turned. Each pocket holds a photo mat the has room for a 6" x 4" photo plus a journalling area.

This paper clip is made using a large glider clip with a rosette made with the Tim Holtz Rosette die and a button all stuck together with a hot glue gun. The flap on the side, that will hold a photo in place, is also a Tim Holtz die

The felt flower is made using a Spell Binder  Nesting Scalloped Circle die.

The Imaginarium chipboard bicycle has been sprayed with Dylusions Ink Spry and then covered with Crystal Kindy Glitz

All of the pockets in this album have been made with Vellum

The tags were cut out with my Cricut. The chipboard arrows and heart were painted white with acrylic paint and super fine glitter added to the heart.

This bird is also from the Angry Bird collection by Tim Holtz and has been coloured using Distress Inks

What little girl doesn't like a shaker element.........

Another shaker and bird.

The silk ribbon flower used on this page was made by my mother (Charli's great grand mother)

The wooden owl received the same treatment as the chipboard bicycle. Dylusions spray and Kindy Glitz.

I made a little envelope for this page so Charli could write something about the year and put it in there.

It does not show very well in the photo but the heart is covered in Dimensional Magic so it has a nice gloss.

Port Victoria Layout

I will be doing several posts today. This first post is to share a double layout I created to teach at my regular Saturday afternoon class

I had several 6.5" Kaiser paper pads that I had not used so decided to create a layout where I could use some of the papers from one of the pads. For the punched strips down the side of the layout I have joined two  pieces together to make the 12" length. I have used a stencil and spray to put the blue wavy effect on the white background and then I have added some white texture paste through a different stencil to create a bit of added texture. I have used velum through my bigshot with Kaisercraft's Scribble die and black cardstock with Kaisercraft's Circle Scribble die to layer behind the foam mounted journaling blocks. The top layer of patterned paper id embossed with an embossing folder that I can not remember the maker. It is a very simple layout but showcases 6 full sized photos.
