Layout for Off The Rails January 2021 Moodboard

 Hi there

Today I want to share a very bright and colourful layout I have created using the January 2021 moodboard from Off The Rails Scrapbooking.

Here is my layout.

I have scraped Colour Blast's Colour Pastes down the piece of white cardstock I am using for the background. The colours I used are Lipstick, Royalty, Sunshine, Envy, Singing the Blues and Sienna

The paler of the pink cardstocks was created in this video

The title was cut using Kaisercraft's DD700 Alphabet Upper Case dies and black cardstock.

The hollow stars are cut from bright yellow using Nellie's Multi Frame Star dies.

The gold cardstock was created using white cardstock and Viva Ink Gold paste.

The scalloped edge of the paler pink cardstock were created using a Martha Stewart punch.

Christmas 2020 Layout

 Hi there and welcome to 2021.

Wishing you all a very Happy New Year and looking forward to sharing 2021 with you.

Today's post is a quick share of a Christmas layout I have created. It came about because I have had a glitter transparency in my stash for many years and I wanted to use it.

I have also used a cut file from Cut to You, it is one of their free cut files from the Twelve Days of Christmas promotion they had.

January 2021 Mystical Scrapbooks Challenge

 Hi there and welcome to 2021.

Today I am sharing the January 2021 Challenge over at Mystical Scrapbooks. The theme for this month is "Sketches" and you will find the sketches and the challenge here.

This is the sketch I have used

and here is my layout

The background is Core'dinations Cardstock - Aquarium

I have put DecoFoil Transfer Gel through Dusty Attic's Criss Cross Stencil, once this had dried I applied Fab Foil in Gold and burnished it with my brayer so I would get a good coverage of the foil onto the gel.

I also watered down some Spring Green acrylic paint and splattered that onto the background.

I have used Colour Blast's Arty Farty paper range for this layout.

I have used 4 patterned papers from the range - Progress, Ideas, Possibilities and Transform.

I cut the Progress paper to:- 12" x 1", 6.5" x 2.5", 2" x 5", 1.5" x 2", a 2" circle and a 1.75" circle

The Ideas paper was cut to - 12" x 1", which was punched along one long edge using a Martha Stewart punch, 1" x 5.5", 7" x 4.5", a 1.75" circle and a 1.25" circle

The Possibilities paper was cut to - 5.5" x 5", 1.5" x 2.5" and 2 x 2" circles

Transform was used to cut the title using Die Namics High Rise Numbers die

I attached my patterned papers following the sketch fairly closely.

I added two half circles and some crochet cotton to the layout that were not on the sketch.

The photo is 4.25" x 4" and is matted on the Aquarium cardstock. The photo is of my husband and I taken at one of my sister's weddings in 1989.

I used a fine black pen (Uniball Eye Micro) to draw a double scribbly border around all of the elements on the page and a page border.

"Joy" Art Journal page.

Good morning,

Today I want to show you a Christmas art journal page I created.

There was a lot of trial and error on this page and there are a few things I will do differently when I use alcohol inks next time.

It didn't always look like this, the original plan was to have the focal points in gold but they did not stand out enough from the background.

Layout for KS4U

Good morning

Today I am sharing my last DT project for December for KS4U (Kraft Supplies 4 U)

I have created a layout using many of the beautiful embellishments I have received from KS4U over the last three months.

There is, of course, a video and you can see it here.

I have used Kaisercraft's Stargazer and Misty Mountain paper collections on this layout.

All of the papers have had their edges distressed and inked with black ink.

The 12" background layer is Stargazer - Milky Way which I have gutted leaving a 1" frame.

The white cardstock was trimmed to 11.5" square.

I used Mont Marte Modelling Paste through Kaszazz's stencil, called Distressed, randomly on the white cardstock. It dries white but does add some texture to the background. 

I also splattered Tattered Angel's Glimmermist - Glacier on the background.

The paper layers behind the photo are, Misty Mountain - Sunset (6" x 8"), 

Stargazer - Universe (2.5" x 7.5") and Stargazer - Cosmic (2.5" x 7")

The papers for the cluster at the top left are Stargazer - Cosmic (3' x 1") and 

Stargazer - Universe (2.75" x 0.75")

To create the flowers I used a Hero Arts stamp from my kit and stamped and heat embossed nine flowers using Rangers Embossing Antiquities powder in Cobalt.

These were then fussy cut, half of them were trimmed down to just the four petals that had the script on them, then they were shaped and one full flower and one four petal flower were layered on top of each other to create a flower. The top layer has foam squares under it to add more dimension to the flowers.

A gem at the centre of the flower finished each flower off.

I used some of the black & silver ribbon, flower lace, black gem flowers and Jolee's Boutique Scallop dotted icing borders dimensional stickers and the beautiful diamanté pins to decorate the page.

The chipboard butterfly is from Gina's Designs - Scribbled Frame - Butterfly. I have heat embossed it with two coats of the same embossing powder I used on the flowers.

The chipboard title is from Kaszazz's Family Words chipboard collection. I gave it a coat of white acrylic paint.

Three Cupcake Cards

 Good morning

Today's post shares three cards I made using supplies from my DT kit from Kraft Supplies 4 U (KS4U)

The stamp set used on all of these cards is a Heidi Grace Designs 4 x 8 set called Sweets.

Each of the cards also has a piece of the black and silver ruffled ribbon from the kit. I "unruffled" the ribbon so I could use it flat.

Card No. 1

This card is a 4 1/8" square card.

I added a layer of the unruffled ribbon to the card base then a layer of the beautiful cotton lace that was in an earlier kit was added on top of that so that the black and silver zebra stripe ribbon showed below it.

I stamped and heat embossed Three of the stack of cupcakes and four of the small single cupcakes.

To colour the images I used Distress Inks and Distress Oxide Inks that I applied with a waterbrush.

These were then fussy cut ready to be used on the card.

I cut a piece of white cardstock 3 7/8" x 2 7/8" and inked the edges. 

This was attached to the card base with two layers of chipboard behind it. It was positioned so it had about 1/8" of the cardbase showing above it and on the left and right edges.

The cupcakes were attached as shown above.

The greeting was stamped, heat embossed and trimmed before being matted on some gold cardstock and attached to the card with two layers of craft foam behind it.

Card No. 2

This card is a top folding slimline card that measures 8 1/4" x 3 1/4"

A piece of gold mirror card was cut to 8" x 3" and a piece of patterned paper (which came free with a magazine I purchased) was trimmed to 7 3/4" x 2 3/4".

A piece of the black and silver ribbon was wrapped around the patterned paper, secured in place and tied with a knot at the right hand end.

The patterned paper was  then attached on top of the gold cardstock and this panel was then attached to the card base.

The large cupcakes were stamped onto some smooth white cardstock using StazOn Jet Black ink.

I used Jane Davenports's Bright Palette water colours to colour the bottoms of the cupcakes.

The tops of the cupcakes are coated with BoBunny Gold Glitter Paste, which I applied with a brush.

The cherries have a coat of Glossy Accents to give them a gloss finish.

The cupcakes are then attached to the card front. The centre one is attached with a piece of craft foam behind it

The greeting is from my computer generated sheet. I have trimmed it to size, matted it on some gold cardstock and attached it to the centre cupcake

Card No. 3

This card is 5 1/4" square.

I have created the cupcakes the same as I did for the cupcakes on card No. 1

I cut a panel of white cardstock 5 1/4" x 3", coated it with glue and then added Stampendous Pearlised Mica Fragments that I received in an earlier DT kit. I set this aside to dry.

I cut 4 strips of gold Cardstock that were 1/2" x 5 1/4" and 2 strips of patterned paper that were 1" x 5 1/4.

These were attached to the Mica Fragment panel starting with gold cardstock, patterned paper then another gold cardstock strip, working from both the bottom and the top of the panel. 

This panel was then attached to the card base

Three cupcakes (one large and two small) were attached to the Mica Fragments panel, the large cupcake was raised.

I used some of the ribbon to tie a bow. This was attached to the card front below the large cupcake.

The computer generated greeting was matted on some gold cardstock and attached to the top centre of the card front.

To finish this card off I applied a coat of Glossy Accents to the cupcake icing and cherries.

Three Christmas Cards 2020

Good morning

Today I am sharing with you the last of this years Christmas cards.

I have tried a few different ideas with these cards. There is a slimline bridge card, an easel card with a heat embossed velum centre panel and a card with a very unusual front panel cut.

Card No. 1

This card is 5 1/2" square.

Once you have your basic card, find the centre point of the bottom edge of the front (it is a top opening card) then cut from this point to the outside edge of the fold line. Do this for both the left and right sides of the card front. These pieces then become the two triangular pieces that are added to the front of the card.

Cover all of the white cardstock areas with patterned paper leaving a small white border around each piece.

Attach the triangular pieces to the front of the card so they are level with the point at the bottom of the card and do not overlap the top of the card at the fold.

I have used a Christmas Tree die (brand unknown) to create the embellishment for the front of the card.

The greeting is from Uniquely Creative's Once Upon a Christmas Mini Cutaparts sheet. this has been matted onto some gold paper and attached at the bottom of the card front.

Card No. 2

This card is 5 1/4" square.

Cut a piece of white cardstock 5 1/4" x 10 1/2" and score at 2 5/8" and 5 1/4" on the 10 1/2" edge

Cut another piece of white cardstock that is 5 1/4" square.

Attach the 5 1/4" square piece to the edge of the 2 5/8" x 5 1/4" panel

Use a circle die to cut through both layers of the front of the card.

I used a Kaisercraft stamp from the Peace & Joy stamp set to stamp the wreath image onto some pearlised velum with some embossing ink. I added gold embossing powder and set it with my heat tool.

I attached this to the card front so the greeting was centred in the cut out circle.

I cut 3 pieces of the dark patterned paper to 5" square and 3 pieces of the light patterned paper to 4 3/4", these were layered on top of each other.

I cut the same size circle as I used previously to cut a circle from two of these. These were attached to the front and back of the front panel with the velum in it. The third one was attached to the bottom inside of the card.

I then cut 2 rings from the dark patterned paper and attached them to the velum just inside the circle cut into the patterned paper. This gave the circles a more finished look.

The greeting was created the same as the previous card, attached to a piece of chipboard and placed on the card base about 1/3 of the way up the card. This is what the card front rests on when it is propped open.

I placed a piece of white cardstock that is 4 1/4" x 3" inside the card to write my personal greeting on.

Card No. 3

This card is a slimline bridge card.

The red card base is 5 5/8" x 8 1/4" and is scored at 7/8" and 1 3/4" at each end of the 5 5/8" edge

The holly leaf patterned paper is from the Kaisercraft St Nicholas paper collection. I have cut one piece 2" x 8 1/4" and 4 pieces 3/4" x 8 1/4". These are then attached to all of the inside surfaces of the card.

Three pieces of red cardstock 3 7/8" x 1" and three pieces of patterned paper 3/4" x 3 3/4" make up the straps that go across the card. These are layered on top of each other then attached to the card base so they are flush with the outside edges of the card.

I used a poinsettia die (brand unknown) and some gold self patterned paper to create 3 flowers. One flower was added to each of the traps, two on the left side of the card and one on the right.

The greeting, which was created the same as the other two cards, was attached to the centre strap.

To create a place to right my personal greeting I added a piece of white cardstock 1 7/8" x 8 1/4" to the back centre panel of the card. I embellished this with two pieces from Uniquely Creatives Holly Jolly Christmas Creative Cuts.

Gold and White Christmas Cards

Good morning

Today I am sharing four Christmas cards. Three are Gold and White and one is Gold, White and woodgrain.

Card Number 1

I created the gold and white striped cardstock by putting Deco Arts Foil Adhesive through a stripe stencil (sorry can't remember the brand, maybe Kaisercraft). I let that dry, laid some gold foil on top of it and then used my brayer to apply pressure on top of the foil to make it stick to the adhesive. Because the adhesive has some texture in it the foil only attached to the high parts of the adhesive. I like this effect but will also try this technique again and see if I can get a smooth finish to the adhesive and an all over cover of the foil.

The card base is 5 1/4" square, the gold striped piece is 5" square.

I used my Memory Box Snowflake Ornament die to cut three ornaments from the gold striped cardstock. I also cut three of the ornaments from gold cardstock

I applied a piece of acetate that measures 4 3/4" square to the back of the gold and white cardstock using glue. Hi Tac foam tape was then used to make a well around each of the ornaments on the acetate.

I ran a fine gold metallic string from each ornament to the top of the gold and white striped cardstock

and folded it over the edge securing it in place with glue.

The gold die cut ornaments were then attached on the front of the acetate.

The filling for my ornaments is Dress my Craft's Sugar Frosting Powder, a very fine glass bead.

A 4 3/4" square piece of white cardstock was then stuck to the panel to contain the fill.

The shaker panel was then attached to the card base.

The greeting for three of these cards came from Paper Rose's Crisp Christmas Sentiment Sheets. They are laser printed so I ran them through my laminator with gold foil on top and the foil stuck to the black print thereby giving me gold foiled greetings.

The greeting was attached to the card using foam tape.

Card Number 2

This card is the only one that has another colour on it. The paper came from the 6" Holly Jolly Christmas paper pad from Uniquely Creative.

This card is also 5 1/4" square but the front panel is partly acetate.

You will need a piece of white cardstock that is 7" x 5 1/4" (score at 5 1/4" on the 7" edge) and one that is 1" x 5 1/4" and a piece of acetate that is 3 1/2" x 5 1/4".

I embossed the acetate using Kaisercraft's Diamond Tiles embossing folder.

The acetate is attached between the pieces of white cardstock ensuring the front and back panels of the card are the same length, making a 5 1/4" square top folding card.

To create the ornament embellishments I combined the leftovers from the two sets of die cuts from the previous card.

I decided where they would be positioned on the acetate and then ran a short length of the metallic string from the ornament up to the centre of the top cardstock section. Next I attached the ornaments to the acetate using glue. The embossing on the acetate helps to hide the gel on the inside of the card.

The patterned paper was cut to 1 1/2" x 5" and 3/4" x 5". The larger piece was attached to the top front panel and the smaller piece was attached to the bottom front panel, covering the edges of the acetate.

I used a poinsettia die to cut 2 of each size flower from gold cardstock, shaped assembled the flower and attached it to the top left of the card front. I also cut an assortment of gold stars using my Nelli's Multi Frame Star die and attached them to the front of the card.

One of the foiled Paper Rose greetings attached to the centre bottom of the card finishes it off.

Card Number 3

This card is very simple. A quick and easy card that is quite striking.

Once again it is a 5 1/4" square card base. I have cut a piece of gold cardstock that is 5" square and two pieces that are 5" x 3/4". I also cut two pieces of white cardstock, one is 4 3/4" square and one is 4 3/4" x 3 3/8".

To make the embellishment I cut my Memory Box Snowflake tree die from gold cardstock.

The two small pieces of gold cardstock were attached to the  4 3/4" edges of the small piece of white cardstock, this was layered onto the 4 3/4" white cardstock which was layered onto the 5" square gold cardstock. This panel was then attached to the front of the card base.

The sentiment for this card is on the inside of the card. I used a Merry Christmas die that I got with a magazine purchase and gold cardstock to create the greeting and attached it using glue.

Card Number 4

This card is the only one that is not square. I wanted to use my Altenew Candy Cane Stripe die so I had to make a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" card so it would fit perfectly.

Once I had cut my die from gold carsick I attached it to the front of the card.

I used a die to cut the three Christmas trees from gold cardstock. I traced around the die onto white cardstock and used my scissors to cut them out so I had a solid white background for my trees. The trees were then attached to the backings.

I cut triangles of chipboard to go behind the trees and then attached them to the card front.

The greeting is from the Paper Rose pack.

Live Your Dream Layout

 Hi there.

Today I am sharing a layout I have created for one of the December challenges over at Mystical Scrapbooks.

There are two challenges for this month. One is to create a layout using three or more photos and you can find that layout here.

This layout is for the challenge that asks you to use splatters on your layout.

I have used Studio 73's Mystique Nightwind papers on this layout along with a Provocraft patterned paper. (Sorry don't know the name of the paper range)

The background is a charcoal cardstock that I have trimmed the centre out of leaving a 1" frame.

I watered down some Kaisercraft Dusty Pink paint and used my fan brush to splatter the paint onto a piece of Haze Linen Cardstock. I trimmed this cardstock down to 11 1/2" x 11 1/2"

The patterned paper have been cut to:-

Floriana 6 1/4" x 8 1/2"

Provocraft (bright pink) 2 @ 8 1/2" x 3/4"

Kookaburra Linen Cardstock 2 @ 8 1/2" x 3/4". I embossed these using my Big Shot and a Sizzix embossing folder.

Midnight 8 1/2" x 5 1/2"

The pennants are 1 1/2" wide, 1" wide and 2 @ 3/4" wide

To create the flowers I have used an unknown brand die to make the white spiked flowers, Couture Creations CO724161 die and Floriana paper to make the flower on the right and Kaisercraft DD707 Layered Flowers with the Provocraft paper to make a daisy type flower and with the Midnight paper to make the two flowers on the left.

There is a tutorial in the video showing how I assemble the flowers.

I used Uniquely Creative Little Leaves die and Kookaburra cardstock to cut the leaves.

All of the papers had their edges inked before being attached to the layout base.

The pennants were attached behind the patterned papers and the flowers were attached using my hot glue gun.

The chipboard title is from Memory Maze. I have heat embossed it with black embossing powder and attached it above the photo on the right of the layout.

I have added four small black chipboard hearts to bring a little more black into the layout and tie it all together. I added a coat of Glossy Accents to the solid hearts

You Stole My Heart Layout

 Good morning

Today's post shares a layout I created for the challenge over at Mystical Scrapbooks that starts today. This particular challenge is to use three or more photos on your layout.

There is another challenge that requires you to use splatters on your layout so why not pop over there and check it out. You might even like to submit an entry, there are prizes.....

I have used the Studio 73's Mistique NightWind paper range on this layout

The cardstock is Linen Cardstock in Kookaburra colour.

All of the papers/cardstock on this layout have ben distress with my Prima Distressing tool and inked with a Kaisercraft Black ink cube.

I cut a 1" frame from the Kookaburra cardstock and the Enchanted patterned paper was trimmed to 11 1/2" square.

I also cut a 4 1/4" x 12" strip and 2 of 3/4" x 12" strips from the Kookaburra cardstock.

A piece of Floriana was cut to 5 1/2" x 12" and torn along both long edges so it was approx 5" wide

The four photos are 3" x 4" and have had their edges filed with an emery board to give a thin white border.

The photos were attached to the 4 1/4" Kookaburra cardstock. A strip of chipboard was glued to this before it was attached to the strip of Floriana that had a 3/4" strip of Kookaburra cardstock attached to the top and bottom, showing approximately 1/2" past the Floriana.

I applied modelling paste, that I had coloured with Kaisercraft's Dusty Rose paint, through a Kaisercraft stencil randomly on the Enchanted background patterned paper. I also splattered this paper with Tattered Angels Black Magic Glimmermist and Docrafts's Spritzing Ink in Gold.

When it was dry the piece of Enchanted paper was attached to the 1" Kookaburra frame and then the photo panel was attached to the layout base about 2" up from the bottom.

Time now to embellish.

I used Dusty Attic's String Frames Small, Memory Maze's You Stole my Heart chipboard and some chipboard hearts from my stash. I painted the String Frame with Brick Red acrylic paint and the other pieces with Charcoal acrylic paint. All of the charcoal pieces were splattered with the same gold spritzing ink I used on the background.

I cut some one inch strips of a Provocraft patterned paper from my stash and the Kookaburra cardstock, cut them into varying lengths and cut fish tails into one end of each one.

I attached five of these at the top right of the layout and three at the bottom left.

To further embellish the top cluster I cut a 1/2" x 4" strip of the Floriana and a 3/4" x 4" strip of the Kookaburra, attached the floral on top of the Kookaburra and attached that on top of the pennants at the top of the layout about 3/4" from the top and 1/2" from the right hand edge.

I used my Stitched Heart layering dies to cut two hearts the smaller in Floriana and the larger in Kookaburra. I layered one on top of the other then attached it on top of the strip I had just added to the top cluster.

The Dusty Attic String Frame was cut in half, half was attached under the top left of the photo panel and the other piece attached under the bottom right of the photo panel

I then used my Uniball Eye Micro black pen to draw faux stitching on all of the paper elements on the page.

The charcoal chipboard was then attached as you can see in the layout photo at the top of the post.

All of the charcoal chipboard then had a good coat of Dimensional Magic

The Kookaburra heart in the top cluster had a coat of glue and then sprinkled with Dress My Crafts Frosted Sugar Powder

I think that completes the page. Hopefully I haven't missed anything. Just to be on the safe side you might like to check out the video because it is all in there.
